Tonight we watched The remake of Manchurian Candidate with the crazy hot, Liev Schrieber. I enjoyed this movie, and will probably buy it when I get back to having money again. It has elements of a lot of crazy conspiracy movies like Enemy of the State, or The Net...and also has creepy elements like Psycho or Minority Report. This is a well scripted, intelligent film with some great performaces. Meryl Streep is something else as a hard-ass politician with a drive to succeed.

I also watched This amazing movie, The laramie Project tonight after getting bored with The Tune. Laramie Project has an amazing cast and is a very moving, if infuriating film. I'd been meanning to watch it for a long time, but put it off as i knew it'd depress the hell out of me. In a way though, it's comforting to see people expressing my outrage for me. Being pissed off all the time is very tiring.

I was supposed to go to an interivew with Vector today. It seems that the job requires that I have a car. Dammit. But I did get a call to interview for a receptionist gig at an orthodontist's. While I will likely lost that job to someone with more appropriate experience, I'd love to have it. So I've decided to allow myself to be stoked about it, at least until tomorrow when I start following up.

It appears that I will not remotely win January's session of NaNoWriYe. I just don't have it in me to do right now, though I am doing some editing and formulating some new ideas. Plus I want to write something with H, and that's not allowed. So I'm putting it off for now. My next session is scheduled for Feb 15th, so we'll see how I feel then.

Because that pill I took for years has been taken off the market: Serzone, I have been thinking that I'd better go get my liver checked out and make sure everything is cool. I remember I had to argue with the doc so he'd let me stop taking those pills, and all the while I was risking severe liver damage. That is The Suck! Anyway, I'll probably schedule myself an appointment to do that tomorrow.
Speaking of appointments, DOC went ahead and made me an appointment without telling me, and I'm supposed to call and confirm. What nerve! Besides, even with the last of my insurance from H I can't afford new glasses at this time, even though I'd really love some. I've been wanting some of those antique looking granny frames all the nerd girls are wearing. Plus I've decided i want a new haircut. You know, because I'm one of those chicks that changes her looks when she feels powerless about the direction her life is taking...or something.

Made H and I chicken piccata for the first time ever. That's where you pound the chicken flat with a mallet (which since I didn't have a mallet, I used a big can of pineapple juice), flour it and fry it, then make a tart lemony sauce to go on top. I must tell you that it was quite delicious.

In-store Movie and Game Rental Terms (from Blockbuster.com)

Movie and game rentals are due back at the date and time stated on the transaction receipt.

There is no additional rental charge if a member keeps a rental item beyond the pre-paid rental period. However, if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than a week after the end of the rental period, BLOCKBUSTER® will automatically convert the rental to a sale on the eighth day after the end of the rental period. BLOCKBUSTER will charge the membership account the selling price for the item in effect at the time of the rental, which is either (1) the retail price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold as new, if the product is not available for sale as previously rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental, or (2) the selling price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold as previously rented product, if the product is available for sale as previously rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental.

The selling price will be discounted by the amount of the initial rental fee paid by the member at the time of rental. If the member returns the item within 30 days of the sale date, BLOCKBUSTER will credit back to the membership account the amount previously charged to the member's account or the member's credit card, as applicable, for the selling price of the item, but the member will be charged a restocking fee. All rental items must be returned to the proper BLOCKBUSTER store. These rental terms are subject to change without notice at any time. Rental terms and policies may vary in franchised locations. Additional membership rules apply for rentals. See store for full details.

Since Blockbuster is such a bunch of slippery bastards, I thought I'd post this to keep you's from getting caught unawares.
