Had lots of guests this evening. K and N came over, bringing G, S and baby S along. So I spent a bit of quality time with baby S...you know, now that she can hold her own head up and stuff. And you know what? She's damn cute, and funny, she was cracking me up. Not that she can talk or anything, just funny like babies are funny sometimes. It's kind of sad, since I am reaching the end of my baby having time without any baby having. But playing with other peoples babies and not having to do any of the work is pretty good too.

Went out to a movie with [livejournal.com profile] mrcrankypants who, if you've never had the pleasure, is a great chap! He picked me up in his little red mini cooper convertible thingy, he thinks it's so fly. Actually, it is pretty damn nice. Very roomy on the inside.
We saw Swimming Pool, which was damn good and had a really cool ending. It was a sexy, interesting romp with some intrigue and mystery thrown in for fun...and some wierd psychological shit. Come see it, you should (Yoda dispensing movie advice, thank you!). It's playing at the Madstone--which is of course, where I'll be for the remainder of the weekend.

Since so many people have asked me to, I'm sharing a few more thoughts on the whole cat v dog debate.

I notice that my roomate sleeps with his dog in the bed. I presume he can do that comfortably, and that the dog will sleep thru the night. If I try to let my cats sleep in the room with me, they will wake me up to pet them over and over, then go to the door and meow loudly until I let them out.

Cats shed a bit...dogs cover your whole world with hair.

My cats are very particular about thier appearance. The only thing they have more often than a nap is a bath. But they love to shred things, throw things around, knock them over and just generally mess up the house. Dogs dont' seem to mind dirt, although they will shake off water all over the carpet. But they do seem very concerned about where thier stuff is at all times.

Dogs chase things and give them back to you. Cats chase things and eat or hide them.

I said earlier that dogs think thier owner is family, while cats think their owner is part of the staff. Cats are most concerned with what you are doing for them. Mine come up with all manner of interesting maneuvers to get me to pet them even when I'm asleep. I must say though, unless they are jumping on my chest, my favorite way to be woken up is by my cats.

When my roomate goes to work, the dog acts sad and whiny. When he comes home the dog acts incredibly, disproportionately happy to see him. When I get home, my cats meow at me until I pet them; then they walk me to thier food bowl in case I forgot where it is.

While I beleive my cats love me, this may be mere projection on my part. They are aware though, that it is I, and I alone who gives them food/water and changes thier litter. My roomate however, is loved by that silly dog.
