It's looking like I'm going to need to take a break from the news for a bit. Every time I turn around, some other guy who lost his job is shooting a bunch of people. I'm not going to link to them, but there have been three such stories in the last week. It's horrifying. As interesting as the psychology behind these rampages must be...I just don't want to hear about it anymore. Plus I'm tired of people saying Obama is a failure because he hasn't fixed everything yet. For fuck's sake, give the man some time.
Also, when I read news online I have a difficult time avoiding the comments. And no matter what the story is about, the comments will be utterly infuriating. Vapid, trite, ignorant, malicious and downright offensive comments pervade even the classiest of internet news sites. I want to be well informed, but I don't want to be furious or frustrated every second of my day.
Speaking of the furious and the frustrating, this is one of the funniest things I've read all week. It really appears to be a legitimate site that honestly asserts that those are the reasons that Gay Marriage is bad and should be illegal. It really is shocking that anyone could present such arguments and expect them to be taken seriously. I had to laugh. It's basically up there with the theory that white men buried fake dinosaur bones in the desert in order to trick minorities into not believing in the bible. I mean, I realize that there are no truly secular reasons to ban gay marriage, but this was just so far off in right field. (get it, because they're on the right?)
Finally managed to rewrite chapter 49 of my serial killer, which is the last chapter from the POV of Elise. It's gone from being flat, boring filler to smashing and surprising character development. And in 300 words, I'll be finished with chapter 51 as well. I imagine Kiss Me Like You Love Me will end up being a bit longer than Sadie. My novels thusfar have been short, easy reads. I like that trend and plan to continue with it. Anyway, I've got probably ten more chapters or so, maybe fifteen--they are pretty short though. Then I have to go back through it and do some edits in terms of character and theme, and straighten out a few plot thingys. In short, I have a lot of work to do, but feel really capable of getting it all done in time. I do tend to work well under deadlines.
I figured out how to work the databases for my website. By that, I mean I followed the directions
gusterize gave me. He did a hell of a good job on the site. His communication was excellent, and it didn't cost very much at all. So if you're looking for a web designer, you should totally give a call to
gusterize. Anyway, now I can change stuff and add it and soforth. Both my Parawomen Radio interviews are linked there now, since I know you're all dying to hear them.
In other news, I'm pretty sure I'm losing my voice. That will be just great for work. ;-[
I also have a giant zit smack in the middle of the left side of my face. Gross.
