Classic movie terror:
Aug. 28th, 2005 03:44 amAs it happens, TCM is showing the 1941 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is the version with Spencer Tracy, Ingrid Bergman and Lana Turner. It was directed by Victor Flemming who directed movies like Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, and Tortilla Flat. I had never seen it, having seen many pale imitators and not being very impressed (Except Edge of Sanity because I love Anthony Perkins).
Can I just say, this movie is fucking terrifying?
For a movie made in 1941, there is an excessive amount of depravity, horror, and twisted sex games.
Like horror? Or classics? Or just fine filmmaking?
Point your peepers at this film as soon as you possibly can.
