Firstly, let me share with you some exciting movie news about Werner Herzog !!!

Now that we have THAT out of the way, I'd like to impose upong many of you local types. As you should all know by now, I'm doing volunteer work at the Washtenaw County homeless shelter. With the cold weather coming and holidays approaching, more people will be using the shelter, especially the warming area that is open to people who cannot get beds in the night shelter. The shelter seems to have a lot of things like sheets, blankets and towels, but not so much in the way of books. Shelter clients often inquire about the lack of good things to read, and would benefit greatly from an influx of books.

As such, I'll asking folks in the Ann Arbor area to go thru their stash of books and see if there are things you'd like to donate. Used books are great for general use at the shelter, but books that are like new can be used as gifts (for the MANY people who won't be getting holiday gifts from anywhere but the shelter) would be excellent! Donations of VHS movies are also good, provided the films in question are not inappropriate for people in recovery (no funny drug movies or anti-cop action movies, etc). And while I'm mentioning it, here's a link to the other stuff they always need at the Washtenaw County shelter

Do let me know if you have anything to donate. I imagine most of you out there have shelters in your area that could use an influx of books, movies, warm coats, pillows, and other stuff that's probably taking up room in your closets. There are also women's shelters who help women with children and can use your gently used kids clothes, women's business attire, and childresn books and toys. I've found that the best cure for depression can be to help people you've never met before.

They still haven't called me from The Village to give me a job. That doesn't even make sense. If I'm willing to go back to a low paying service job utterly without prestige or good benefits, the least they can do is call me to tell me to come in and work. Bastards! I'm going to call them back...right now.

Okay, called them back. Aparently, they are doing on the spot interviews tomorrow at 2pm. So I will have to put on my fancy-pants and go there, even though I will desperately need sleep before I go to the shelter. I wonder though, if last minute hiring from whatever dumbasses happen to be at the mall is going to result in a good team? To be clear, I think that last minute hiring of the aforementioned dumbasses will result in a rather shitty team. But let's hope for the best, shall we?

I really just want to earn enough money to live and pay bills, and see free movies. If I can see free movies, that cuts my entertainment budget considerably. Speaking of movies, I am very proud of this fly icon I made for Shaun of the Dead. It's a good one.
We watched that movie, Wrong Turn last night since it came on @ 3 in the morning. It was a pretty suspenseful, but ultimately unremarkable blending of the new Texas Chainsaw and The Hills Have Eyes. It also had that Jeremy Sisto guy in it, and he is pretty hot, I've decided.

Anyway, here's why it is good that I am plagued by horrible nightmares:

The Moon Card
You are the Moon card. Entering the Moon we enter
the intuitive and psychic realms. This is the
stuff dreams are made on. And like dreams the
imagery we find here may inspire us or torment
us. Understanding the moon requires looking
within. Our own bodily rhythms are echoed in
this luminary that circles the earth every
month and reflects the sun in its progress.
Listening to those rhythms may produce visions
and lead you towards insight. The Moon is a
force that has legends attached to it. It
carries with it both romance and insanity.
Moonlight reveals itself as an illusion and it
is only those willing to work with the force of
dreams that are able to withstand this
reflective light. Image from: Stevee Postman.
