I got up super early today to go to Candlewood Suites to apply for a job. I was also going to apply at the senior centre across the street, which I may still do. But I'm not sure if I want to work someplace where people dying is routine. I know that puts a rather glum, melodramatic spin on things, but I really shouldn't take a job that will be consistently depressing.

Speaking of the depressing, I spent $20 on one of those L"Oreal multi-tonal hair coloring dealies. I got exactly the one they reccomended online for my coloring and soforth. The kit itself is packaged really well. There are 2 pair of the "good gloves" which I'm sure all you hair colorers out there know the difference. But the "hi-lighting kit" that you pay $12 extra for is basically a long handled mascara brush and some peroxide paste.
You're supposed to color your hair with the base color, then afterwards put the highlights on and pile the hi-lighted hair on top of your head. "Don't worry." it says on the box "color will not run." Well THAT, my freinds, is a vile and odeous lie! Most of the top front of my head is orange and none of the hilights seems to have made it all the way to the ends of my hair, despire the fact that my neck and shoulders had hi-light stuff on them.
H and Ryan said it doens't look bad, but they are men...what the hell do they know? H is colorblind, and as such is not really the right person to ask. So I'll have to spend still more money re coloring my hair before my next job interview. Although, maybe I am being melodramatic and it's not as bad as I think it is. (I suspect that if I color it with regular color, it will look more multi-tonal since it was different shaeds to begin with, if that makes sense.)

It's so hard to tell with depression how serious anything is. Everything seems serious. Everything seems absolutely crucial. Somehow, when I found out the title of the 6th Harry Potter book yesterday, I felt like it was the most important scientific discovery in the history of mankind. When actually, its like, 10th. (hahahahaha!)

Everyone went to see Spiderman 2 tonight. I was going to go, honest. But I felt so tired and just--well "off" really. Plus you know, my idea of fun is not standing around in a huge crowd with no air conditioning, only to be squashed in like sardines around people who forgot you aren't supposed to talk during the film. Truth be told, I'm still rather bitter about not being able to see this movie for free at the 'Stone, as we were supposed to get it. Dammit!!!

Oh, and gracious thanks to [livejournal.com profile] smarbaby. for loaning me her copy of Triplets of Belleville. I am looking forward to checking it out!
Further gracious thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lirrin for the bread starter recipe she sent weeks ago. I am finally making my own Amish friendship bread starter, which will be ready for sending in 10 days. If any of you baking types want some, do let me know.

Dear Sirs and Madames:

I enjoy your channel very much. You play lots of good classic rock, which I enjoy.

I must call to your attention, however, that the phrase "classic rock" referrs to old or "classic" music. That is, music that is 25 years old or more. In the interest of TV magic, I happily accept your playing music videos that are 20 years old, or even slightly newer than that.

However.

Your assertion that anything off the 1991 Pearl Jam album: 10 is "classic rock" is both disturbing and offensive. Indeed, any music released during my college career will not be considered "classic rock" until 2014 (when I am well over 40). Please refrain from playing Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots on your "classic rock" channel until at least 2013.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

What Monty Python Character are you?

I got invited to see Spiderman 2 for the second time in 2 days. Either I'm more popular than I thought, or my friends are a bunch of total nerdlingers. Or possibly both.

I am getting used to my hair, and may be going out in public with it soon.

Had a rather nice day. Got up early and took care of some job hunting. Applied for four more jobs, 3 of which I would really like to try out. One is for a travel agency...which would be funny since a high school honor student probably knows a heap more abut geography than I do. Anyone know of an easy way to learn that stuff?
I also made H my special mexican dip and put meat in it even though it is usually a vegetarian dip. He crunched happily on it for a good long while. I made it the tasty way, with chipotles and mild jalapenos and tons of scallions. Mmmm...

Spent the better part of the afternoon and early evening with [livejournal.com profile] shakeshookshock whom I hadn't seen in far too long. We talked about film and writing and mexican dip; yet for some reason I completely neglected to tell him about the part I'm writing for him in my script. He also brought me a fresh copy of Final Draft6 that I seem to be having better luck with. I am still having some kind of issue with saving, but I'm going to see about figuring it out on my own.

EDIT: I have at long last figured out the difference between "save" and "save as" as it pertains to this program. Woo Hoo!

Later, we got together with N and K. We were going to see a movie but our lateness combined with my intense dislike of crowds caused us to hang out at my place instead. This is after picking up an excellent meal at Panera Bread. I got a chicken ceasar salad with tomatoes and some cinnamon bagels with hazelnut cream cheese. That will cure any food related boredom I may suffer from later in the week.

So I'm off for a bit of sleep, then plan to really tear into this screenplay. Is it still called a screenplay if its for a short film? I dont' know...but it sounds less pretentious to me to call it a script. Ah yes I'm 'working on my script'. That's the ticket.

I also need to figure out why I am cursed at making Amish freindship bread. I got sent a starter in the mail which did not survive in my care. Then I tried to make my own starter which turned into an enormous ziplock of goo in just a few hours and eventually ripped open a ziplock bag even though it was not completely sealed. Perhaps I am destined only to make cakes and muffins, and never work with any actual yeast...

In case you haven't heard, LJ is giving away 2 weeks free of paid time if you had a paid account this month. This is to make up for all that LJ stupidity that has been going on. If you're buying more time this week, they will tack on 2 months free. Go here to get what's coming to you (the good kind of 'what's coming to you').
