Obama loves Abortion <3 <3 <3

I suppose by now you've all heard about the McCain supporter who lied about being attacked and disfigured by a "Barack" supporter. No? Well here are some morons discussing it. Just another example of the craziness surrounding this election. I've heard Obama called everything from Arab to Muslim to "pro-abortion" to a "terrist," a socialist, and a few racial things I won't repeat here. I've been told he's only getting all this attention due to his color, and that ACORN (a group I used to work for) is dishonest for signing up homeless people to vote. People are losing their goddamn minds in this country. The abortion stuff bugs me the most...I can understand how people can disagree with when life actually begins. But why do they want to pass laws that say I have to agree with them? I'm not making anyone agree with me!

Is there really such a thing as "pro abortion?" I don't see how there could be.
Except...

Anywhoo, I downloaded The Strangers last night so's I can watch it later on the iPod. That movie looks pretty damn horrifying. It's about people who get terrorized at their vacation house. I want to watch it next time I'm at the vacation house. Oooh scary!

Finally hooked myself up with the Sweeney Todd soundtrack, minus the songs I don't like. I can't stand that nightingale song, and can do without all the "I feel you Johanna" nonsense. The rest of it is stuck in my head...particularly the final scene.
In other joyous news, [livejournal.com profile] hellamama is sending me a breadmaker. Everyone is getting breads for the holidays. Yay!!

Obama and dead fetal tissue: BFF!

I was assigned The Strangers at Arrow in the Head, which boils down to me getting the DVD for free, which I always like. I saw it in the theater, but it was close-captioned, which annoyed me. Nice to see it without the subtitles. I think you'll enjoy it.

Cool, I'm looking forward to it.

THe flailing Reich-wing are learning that they are in a teensy little minority. ANd somehw they don't like it. Since reality has a well-known liberal bias, they have never had any use for it... They can talk about Obama's "racist" pastor and claim he's a Muslim in the same breath. There IS nothing too low for the mouth-breathing bastards. Anything goes.

I'd like to think there are reasonable mcCain supporters whom I just disagree with. But every time I think I've found one, they reveal themselves to be a total asshat.

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2008-10-25 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup.

Even if I WANTED to support McCain (say I felt he was owed for his prison camp horror), the fact that he let his countless lobbyist advisors (who've taken countless dollars from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Saddam Hussein, et al) pick a criminal SECESSIONIST to be his running mate would pretty much queer the deal.

You and me both. Total asshat is even an understatement.

Hooray on the breadmaker, and hooray to [livejournal.com profile] hellamama for getting it for you!

As for the political stuff, I'm just disgusted. I am looking forward to this election being over more than ever before.

Hooray indeed! I'm stoked.

I don't fully understand the level of vitriol associated with this campaign, but I can say that almost universally it has been Democratic supporters who have been cordial and polite the whole time.

I mean, there were McCain supporters outside polling places in the South shouting at people - primarily minorities - simply for daring to exercise their right to vote. Has it really come to displays like that?

As for the woman who faked an attack, same issue - has it come to a point where there are groups so afraid of an Obama presidency that they would shoot that low on the tactics spectrum? Campaign for your candidate, but don't try to start a riot in their name just to hurt someone else's campaign.

Do Republicans around the country really feel all that victimized that they mush lash out so?

It seems like the last few elections have been increasingly divisive. I think people are afraid for many reasons and it's making them crazy.

Remember, these are mainly fundies who think if you don't do exactly what they do, that you're against them somehow.

[identity profile] maxverbosity.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember people discussing the "red state / blue state" divisions as far back as the early 90s, but yeah, since 2000, the sheer polarity of these two "sides" of America has ballooned to a ridiculous extent.

Strangely, it isn't helped by opinionated news sources like, oh, Fox, and as news cycles faster now than even a decade ago, the worst sort of propoganda can find its audience faster than ever.

This time around, divisions seem to be amplified by several factors, not the least of which is Obama's ancestry. I wonder what sort of backlash we would see should he win....do the nutjobs go on their "endtimes" streak in full force?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He's going to need better than average secret service protection, that's for sure. It looks like Obama is gonna win, and I for one an truly frightened for his safety.

And you're right, FOX news certainly isn't helping.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2008-10-27 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
But Fox is the only one that doesn't lean ridicculously to the left.
It actually helps show some of the things that are whrong in this race.
CNN MSNBC, etc won't even cover the most important issues, instead sweeping them under the rug to criticise every bit of minutia relating to Joe the Plumber, etc.

Either way, for those that are fans of an exciting political race, this has been one that will go down as simply electrifying.
