Movies, Family, and Alton Brown
Went to see Batman again in Tuesday night. This time at the IMAX, with a bunch of people from my work. It was the first time I've done anything fun with work peeps. They are a good bunch, I just have to be careful of what I say, lest they all find out I'm a lunatic pot smoker. One of the dudes asked me to go out to IHOP with him after, but I wanted to get home to H, who didn't come with. Of course when I got home he was sound asleep. Fie!
The new Wolfman looks pretty good. I don't mean the movie so much as the actual Wolfman, played by Benicio Del Toro. Observe:
Apparently this movie will use little to no CGI, as Rick Baker is a practical special effects man, not unlike the great Tom Savini. Anyway, watch out for that one in 2009.
Other films to keep an eye out for: Piranha directed by Alexandre Aha which will be the bloodiest fish attack movie anyone has ever heard of. I'm not so into the idea of a remake of Suspiria starring Natalie Portman as the main chick. True, Argento doesn't pay much attention to acting and actors, so this movie might actually be better in some ways than the original. But I doubt it.
Can you even stand the fact that they are doing another Friday the 13th movie?!? This one won't even star Kane Hodder. Whatever. Jason Vorhees is not a sympathetic character, dammit!
My Aunt tells me that Type 2 diabetes runs in my family. Good to know, right? :-/
I am also now hearing from my Uncle Victor, who is a Hare Krishna kinda guy. He thinks I'm a drug addict (thanks, mom) and as such that I should not come out to Vegas to see him. He says Vegas will destroy anyone who is an addict.
My Aunt also tells me that all of her kids are going to read Sadie. I know they are adults and stuff, but it still kind of weirds me out.
I watched Alton Brown make granola bars last night, and protein bars too. It would be nice to be able to make my own bars, since I buy them all the damn time. They seems to require a lot of specialized shopping.
I'm not sure I want to get all the stuff just to find out it's too big a pain in the ass to do often. I think I might try it though, after I have this gathering at the end of the month because that will be kind of expensive. I have to make a trifle for Honore, and some kind of hot hors d'ouvres, and a dip.
So yeah, I'm having a gathering the last Saturday of the month, which is the 30th.
