Gift wrapped and everything!!!

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] parilous

Your lovely gift arrived today.
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.

(I'll be sending out paper Thank You's after the wedding)

Work was fine today, though I think I'm getting sick. I took my Customer Service test and will find out tomorrow whether or not I passed. I hope I'm not too sick to care. I'd better not lose my voice or I'm gonna kick [livejournal.com profile] nate101000's ass for making me sick.

I made some ghiradelli brownies yesterday for cartoons. They were chocolate chip walnut and had this amazing texture like they were melting in my mouth. Man, they were good. And there's a bunch left. I will almost certainly have one later. Brownies are one of chocolate's finest applications.

Now that I'm thinking of it, what's YOUR favorite way to eat chocolate?

Outdoors on the island of Capri, fresh out of the Perigina factory the day before? That's pretty great.

But for reasons of rarity and nostalgia, I'd have to go for a confection my mom made at Christmas - Chocolate pillows. Simple Hershey's chocolate slabs surrounds by sweet pastry dough. SO delicious. :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-24 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like.

Chocolate pillows eh? I don't believe I've ever had one.

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-24 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think they are common. Other than my mom's I've never seen them... But what they do to ordinary chocolate is almost alchemically delish!

You'll have to slide me a recipe. I'm always on the lookout for cool stuff to make for the winter holidays.

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-24 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
First I'll have to get the recipe myself...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-24 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what you're waiting for...

;-]

I googled Chocolate Pillows cuz that sounded interesting...and got This

Does that even seem similar to what your mom makes??

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Bingo!

Highly recommended. :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. I'm gonna try them out.

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
yay!! Very good, im on it when I have a bit more time!

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Outstanding!

My favorite ways to eat chocolate are many.
Here are a few...as a Sanders' bumpy cake, in a UK Milky Way Bar, as hot chocolate, chocolate rice milk, whoppers, Charleston Chew, in Keebler® Fudge Shoppe® Fudge Sticks cookies, and in the dark chocolate over orange jelly candies that they used to have at Sears candy shop when I was little.

You just inadvertantly reminded me of Terry's Chocolate Orange.

That's quite a selection.

Did you see I took my CS test today?
I find out tomorrow if I pass.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
You'll ace it!

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and as Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls.

Well, brownies are an excellent way to eat chocolate. Then there's ice cream, chocolate cake with mocha frosting, truffles, hot chocolate ... really, is there a bad way to eat chocolate?

Oh, and keep your eye on the mail. You might be getting something else in a few days. ; )

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I forgot about truffles. Truffles are awesome.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out.

I second the chocolate orange, but I also love those bagged circular truffles whose name escapes me -- I'm no further than fifteen feet from them at work, and I c ... Lindt. Yum-frickin'-yum.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I usually grab a few of those when I go to Borders.

Nice.

Mmm i love chocolate soy milk & i love grating dark chocolate over soy cream, or melting it. I love these mocha rice dream ice cream bars that are dark chocolate dipped with mocha ice cream & oatmeal cookies. YUM!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Chocolate and rice to go well together. Those rice dream bars are surprisingly tasty.

ErosLane Phun Phact: The Prince of Bitter Rhetoric does not care for chocolate anything. Meh.

Are you allergic, or just a communist?

[identity profile] diachrony.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Recipe, please. I mean for the brownies you made that melt in the mouth. And please include the helpful Wednes tips that ensure such melt-in-mouthiness. ;)

I like my chocolate dark and gourmet, generally from chocosphere.com and as dark as I can get it. But that's in bars. Baked choccies ... I love choc-chip cookies with *lots* of chocolate, and chocolate chocolate-chunk cookies. And chocolate-filled croissants. Warm them just a couple seconds and the chocolate melts inside the croissant and it's the most delicious, messy thing to eat. ::licks fingers::

I used to eat chocolate croissants when I worked for Whole Foods, that an almond filled. Mmmmm.

The brownies were Ghiradelli (brownie mix with walnuts) straight from the box. Then I added 1/2 cup cake flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup dutch process cocoa, 1/4 extra oil (I think the package calls for 1/3 cups), 2 extra eggs, a handful of semi sweet chips, and a smallish plop of sour cream. Mix and bake like usual, about 12 mins longer than it calls for.
