Pressies and the "Mother Grabbers"

Here's what I got for H:

A beautiful scarf which I made
DVD: Chung King Express
Pair of Joe Boxer PJ pants
DVD: Lucky # S7even
Blue Jersey Shirt
3 Samurai Jack Books
Onion Book
DVD: Crimson Rivers
Chocolates and assorted sweets

Here's what H got me:

Fantastic set of blue T-fal cookware
DVD: Dracula 2-disc special ed
3 new bras (ooh la la)
DVD: Frankenstien 2-disc special ed
Salt & Pepper grinder exactly like one that broke (Woot!!)
New phone which I have not got yet
DVD: The Descent 2-disc widescreen unrated

So it was a good haul for all concerned. I crossed things off both my Wish List and my Wedding Registry. I also took a bag of candles and baked goods over to my neighbors down the hall. Just now, we're relaxing and I'm thinking about heading into the kitchen to season my new cookware. You know, you're not supposed to use high heat on those pans, or any pans really except cast iron. Later, I'm making a stroganoff with my stove on medium. I wonder why they make stoves that go up too high for most pans...

I didn't get an ipod. I'm having a wedding instead. Matter of fact, H said I could raise the budget to...well, a higher number than it was so we'll be able to have a few extra things, like plastic champagne flutes for the sparkling cider toast. Those will look great in the photos!

We're watching Trading Places on TV. I have to laugh at phrases like "mother grabbers" and "rip out your eyes and pull out your brains". I suppose they think they're being clever. This is the netowrk that airs South Park after all...and they can't let Dan Ackroyd say "kick some ass." Absurdity. Why show the damn movie at all if you're going to shred it so badly. Speaking of which, The Sopranos starts in a few short weeks on A&E. I will almost certainly watch.

You can use the rock salt that you buy for ice cream makers (make sure it's food grade and not like, road salt). It's great.

Chungking Express! Cool movie!

It's especially neat that H could find replacements for the salt & pepper grinders. Yay!

Yeah, I was really happy. I know he looked high and low for it the first time he bought it. Apparently it's difficult to find one that does both.

I've not seen the Chung King Express movie yet. I'm sure we'll watch it though, it looks really good.

Man, I must be getting responsible in my old age as I am excited about your pots and pans. I have my eyes on some really nice stainless steel type ones right now :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean. I am always happy to get housholdy stuff...and socks. I love getting new socks.

So, I'm reading through this entry and I know you said Trading Places but my brain registered Trading Spaces and I'm wondering why they'd be using terminology like that. Even when the designs make me want to rip out my eyes, they act like it's the best thing ever. Then I was picturing that cute little Vern saying "mothergrabbers" and trying to put that in context.

My brain is defective. *giggle*

Now THAT is comedy.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
He also managed to give me a DVD that didn't come out until today. Yet, he gave it to me yesterday. Amazing, he is!!

And yeah, the T-fal is really nice.

Sounds like you ought to marry that guy. ; )

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Good idea!

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a good haul for the two of you. I hope it was a merry day for all. We had a great time here.

About the swearing in the movies. That cut of Trading Places was edited for TV nearly 20 years ago and it would take maybe at least a weeks worth of work to make a new cut that was more up to date with TV trends and language. I'm not sure who would be in charge of editing it (Comedy Central or the distrubition house), but I am sure that it's not worth their time or concern to do so.

Of course, if it was after 1am, then they would likely show the original.

Katie and I will be back in town tomorrow, and I don't have to be at work until next Tuesday, so maybe we can finally hang out for a change.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be nice.

Maybe we should come over and play with your Wii again. That thing is amazing!

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There's plenty of my wii to go around. I like it when people play with my wii.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Know how I know you're gay?

You like H to play with your Wii.

For some reason The Descent looks really frickin' scary to me...

Um... so plan another movie night, LOL.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-27 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Descent was very good and damn suspensful and scary.
