Pressies and the "Mother Grabbers"
Here's what I got for H:
A beautiful scarf which I made
DVD: Chung King Express
Pair of Joe Boxer PJ pants
DVD: Lucky # S7even
Blue Jersey Shirt
3 Samurai Jack Books
Onion Book
DVD: Crimson Rivers
Chocolates and assorted sweets
Here's what H got me:
Fantastic set of blue T-fal cookware
DVD: Dracula 2-disc special ed
3 new bras (ooh la la)
DVD: Frankenstien 2-disc special ed
Salt & Pepper grinder exactly like one that broke (Woot!!)
New phone which I have not got yet
DVD: The Descent 2-disc widescreen unrated
So it was a good haul for all concerned. I crossed things off both my Wish List and my Wedding Registry. I also took a bag of candles and baked goods over to my neighbors down the hall. Just now, we're relaxing and I'm thinking about heading into the kitchen to season my new cookware. You know, you're not supposed to use high heat on those pans, or any pans really except cast iron. Later, I'm making a stroganoff with my stove on medium. I wonder why they make stoves that go up too high for most pans...
I didn't get an ipod. I'm having a wedding instead. Matter of fact, H said I could raise the budget to...well, a higher number than it was so we'll be able to have a few extra things, like plastic champagne flutes for the sparkling cider toast. Those will look great in the photos!
We're watching Trading Places on TV. I have to laugh at phrases like "mother grabbers" and "rip out your eyes and pull out your brains". I suppose they think they're being clever. This is the netowrk that airs South Park after all...and they can't let Dan Ackroyd say "kick some ass." Absurdity. Why show the damn movie at all if you're going to shred it so badly. Speaking of which, The Sopranos starts in a few short weeks on A&E. I will almost certainly watch.

It's especially neat that H could find replacements for the salt & pepper grinders. Yay!

About the swearing in the movies. That cut of Trading Places was edited for TV nearly 20 years ago and it would take maybe at least a weeks worth of work to make a new cut that was more up to date with TV trends and language. I'm not sure who would be in charge of editing it (Comedy Central or the distrubition house), but I am sure that it's not worth their time or concern to do so.
Of course, if it was after 1am, then they would likely show the original.
Katie and I will be back in town tomorrow, and I don't have to be at work until next Tuesday, so maybe we can finally hang out for a change.
