I know I say this about a lot of things, but this disease could certainly be the precursor to a zombie outbreak. Not to mention, it makes you think you've got bugs on you...what's funnier than that (in a sterotypically insane kinda way) ???

As the disease progresses patients develop a craving for human flesh and an intense desire to shop at the mall.

But in all seriousness...AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

And in Is it a "Pizzly or a Grolar" Bear news, it has been confirmed that that big ol' bear they shot was indeed a rare Polar Grizzly hybrid. Of course, we can't really learn a whole lot about it's beahavior, temperment or breeding patterns because they shot it. I thought polar bears were protected and you weren't supposed to hunt them? Even if you're looking to shoot a bear (and why would you be?) once you see that it's all white and such, you must know then that it isn't a grizzly, no?

I guess I just can't get behind the shooting of bears for "sport" and I don't know enough about bear populations to know if it's neccessary to cull them to keep them from starving (like deer--I'm a Michigander). The whole idea is just so sad...
But I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a new type of bear emerge.

Pizzlies are bred for their skills in magic

Alright, now I have brain fog, bugs under my skin and in my ears (specifically, "arthopods"), my skin has changed texture and turned greenish, and the lesions have multi-colored fibers in them that FLORESCE UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. Plus, some nasty reflux. I so totally want to visit your undisclosed bunker with my pet pizzly, which is pretty much my favorite animal.

I dunno...the pizzly is pretty cool. But I'm not sure it holds a candle to the Liger.

I read about Morgellons a few days back and it has been creeping me out ever since. Especially the part where doctors think that sufferers are lying and are just crazy.

Well, "i think there's bugs on me" is a pretty common symptom of nuttiness...but docs should at least try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

And also...Ew.

From what I've read...

Hunting polar bears IS legal... but it's damned hard to do, and feckin' expensive too. Tags for them are literally 50K+, and the limit is one per bag (that is to say, one per hunting trip unless otherwise authorized)--or one happens to be a member of an indigenous tribe of the area.

The thing of it is, is that the guy was legal for polar bear--but depending on the species, sometimes you need another permit for Grizzly (like the Kodiac variation, etc.)--I think, not sure on that count. Either way, he was supposed to be hunting polar and wound up with a grizzly/polar hybrid.

Lots of red tape on the subject:

http://www.fws.gov/endangered/permits/index.html

Although I gotta say, ALMOST every thing there is to know about bears is known; the only question that could be answered from this is whether or not it was a fertile hybrid.

Granted, given the number of people to animals ratio--especially where bear populations are concerned--I'd have rather they not killed it... but bullets tend to be one-way tickets ya know?

Some of that info is damn interesting.

Ultimatley, I guess I just think that I wouldn't like the sort of person who would find it fun to shoot a bear. Bears are so cool. I don't even think Stephen Colbert would actually shoot one! ;-}

When it comes to hunting, there is a degree of similarity between that and war... if one finds themselves doing either just for fun--they need to stop, and get a psychological examination. Not to say that one can't have a fun time hunting--socializing with family and whatnot--but it shouldn't be done for 'sport' or 'trophies' imo. Which is one of the reasons why I never liked the laws regarding what one can and can't do with a polar bear.

Use every part of the animal for something--from clothes, to bags--make fishing hooks and knives from the bone. But use it all, and either salt or dry what meat you don't use for immediate consumption. If one is going to hunt at all, at any rate.

At least it's safer than war is--as popular human pastimes go.

I guess it would be hard to draw the line on what should be done with an animals remains. I certainly agree that every part of the animal should be used. But rememeber when elephants were killed (I'm pretending they aren't anymore) just for the tusks and the feet wee used for umbrella stands or whatever? Once you agree that certain things can be traded legally, people will kill animals just for that one thing and leave the rest.

Goes back to my oft-made point that you can't legislate morality. People will find ways to be lazy, selfish assholes despite best efforts to make reasonable laws.
