Mischief Managed!

Home from Harry Potter. I should totally be in bed, and I will be...soon. Have to work the day-job tomorrow. More like the afternoon-job since it's a 2-close. I'm hoping it'll be slow, and I can not be too stressed.

So yeah...Harry Potter 7.2 was amazing. The whole movie was in 3D, and we got special 3D glasses that were round. I totally kept mine. DH2 was perfect, or as close to perfection as a book to film can be within the confines of space and time. Specifically, every scene I was dying to see was included. I can't think of a single one that was missing. It's a drag that Crabbe wasn't present, but I think they handled it in a logical way that worked just fine. I loved how many people came back for very minor appearances. Come to think of it, very few people were not back, even though some, like Percy, didn't even speak.

Battle of Hogwarts was exceptional and authentic, and began even earlier than I expected. Totally in line with canon. At one point, Greyback has killed a student and is feeding on them. I am not sure who that was, though I swear it looked like Lavender Brown. It was pretty quick, so I'm not sure. I sat through the whole battle terrified of seeing Colin Creevey's arc play out as it did in the book, only with Nigel. Unless that was Nigel with Greyback, I'm pleased to say that the thing I most feared did not happen. Molly and Bella was all that I hoped it would be, and Neville was uber, doober badass. I always wanted him to get together with Luna. So yay for that. Yay for kisses in the heat of battle, and Minerva, and Hagrid, and Griphook acting like a goddamn Ferengi, and the swarm of acromantulas, and Percy for showing up just to stand behind Arthur. I adore Arthur Weasley. Yay for everyone growing up, and for not overdoing the makeup on the flash forward. Yay for the pensieve and the handling of Snape's story. In fact, yay for Snape. Would have been neat to see more of the Carrows, but that's a small flaw. The movie was pretty short, 2 hours and 10 minutes might make it the shortest Potter film ever--though I'm too lazy to check right now. Damn, I'm tired. So yeah, that's all I've got as of this writing. I really hope I don't find a bunch of flaws in it after thinking about it for a few days. Not sure when I'll be seeing it again, hopefully some time when I can show up early enough to not sit in the far right of the 3rd row. Damn, it was good.

Kicked off 7 Authors in 7 Days over to the Zombie Zone News. First interview was Kim Paffenroth who wrote the most well-respected scholarly book on Romero's work to date. He is also a fascinating cat who is a professor of religion, and just put out a fiction novel on zombies and Dante's Inferno. Great interviews coming up with some new writers, and also the likes of Peter Clines, and Craig DiLouie. The guy from Audible.com was great and sent me some awesome audiobook samples to accompany the interviews. It's gonna be swell.

Other than that, just making edits on The Finster Effect so I can get it to beta readers by the end of the month. I'm not supposed to be buying any books. But um...I bought some books. New copy of Danse Macabre, A Best of Lovecraft collection with a delightful intro by Robert Bloch, and then a few I sent to some college friends who recently had a baby.

Ooh! I'm glad HP 7.2 was so good. Can't wait to see it. You know, when Netflix finally gets a hold of it. I always wanted Harry to get together with Luna, actually. They seemed suited to each other in an odd sort of way.

Molly's fight scene in the book is one of my favorites. Awesome!

I couldn't remember who Neville got together with, if anyone.
