So much to mention...off I go then.
Ha! Take THAT Guernica, a this week's South Park agrees with me in re: the use of the word "Fag." And since those guys are fags, it's as if all fags agree with me, because that's how it works. Okay, I'm being facetious, but I still say it's possible to call things gay in a negative way without being a bigot or a homophobe.
In other bigotry news, just over half of the State of Maine can go fuck themselves. I've concluded that human rights should not be up for a vote. Plenty of people think H and I shouldn't be married--even keeping in mind that we don't intend to breed. You can't wait around for all the bigots to die in order to give people the basic rights they deserve. Such things should just be legislated outright, not put up to be voted down.
And finally, the Louisiana judge who denied a marriage license to an interracial couple has since resigned. Turns out, he'd done that at least 4 times in the last 3 years. So, screw that guy. Then he spouted some crap about not being able to be a judge and have a conscience, forgetting of course that one's "conscience" is not synonymous with one's prejudices. So good riddance to that dinosaur.
Considering getting a tattoo of my logo (pictured) with some blood dripping from it. It will likely be a while before I can afford it, but afford it I shall. I just have to figure out a way to make the blood not look cartoonish. I hate that, the tattoo "blood" with the black outlines.
Went to see Where the Wild Things Are. It was fan-freakin-tastic! I was blown away, and admit that I cried during the majority of the movie. If all family movies were filled with that level of truthiness and authenticity, I would not have to hate family movies. Granted, this is not a movie for young kids. But the writing is brilliant; the struggles are honest and dealt with sans pretention and moralizing; and James Gandolfini is fucking brilliant as Carrol. When they say "parental discretion" they mean it. This movie has some scary moments and young Max is not exactly a role model. He's a real little kid; and I'm aware that not all parents are comfortable with such depictions. Too bad, really. This movie is a masterpiece. I will buy it immediately.
Not really feeling the new V. I thought it bordered on propaganda before I realized it was on ABC. Duh. My issues with Disney are well documented, so I won't go into all that again. I fully expect this show to have a conservative, aggressive bent a'la FOX's 24. I might get to like it if they do something interesting with these people, but right now it feels painfully derrivative--even for a remake. I know not every sci-fi show can be Battlestar Galactica, but I was looking forward to being shocked and sucked in. No dice. Aside from the revelation in re: Steve the Pirate, I saw basically everything coming. No rabbits yet though. Sweeps?
Not to go all morbid, but there's a new serial killer in our midst. Get ready to tire of hearing the name "Anthony Sowell" on your internet news sites. Pretty typical as serial killers go. Killed drifter chicks and drug addicts and other women police tend not to look too hard for, stereotypically. If this guy gets lots of coverage, maybe it will put people in a mood to read about serial killers. Ghastly as that is, someone such as myself could...actually benefit from--I'm going to leave that right there. The very concept of that is freaking me out.
I heart Christopher Moore. This is well known. While I'm very selective about Vampire books in general, I love his. The third in the trilogy is coming out in April, and the first two chapters are available at the website. I hope to have time to check them out soon.
Started checking out Durham County on the recommendation of a co-worker. The pilot was damn amazing, and I'm excited to see where it goes. I'm getting kind of annoyed with pilots that are overt and blatant about obvious exposition and putting people where they need to be. I wish they could have the courage to let things develop slowly, giving each revelation that much more impact. Anyway, it's about a serial killer and his neighbor in a Canadian town. The neighbor is a copy. I'm looking forward to it.
Picking up an extra shift on Saturday, which means I don't get to sleep in for the next 7 days. For someone such as myself, that is damn near torturous. Sleeping in is my favorite thing. *sigh*
