A Post About a Bunch of Scary Things:
H and I watched the original Halloween earlier this week. We were in the mood for something scary, and I didn't feel like watching H's favorite Hitchcock movie, The Birds yet again. We have the Television version on DVD, which has a bit of extra footage. Some fun facts about John Carpenter's Halloween:
The guy who plays Michael Myers without his mask (as opposed to The Shape featured in the bulk of the film) is Tony Moran, the brother of Erin Moran, who played Joanie "Shortcake" Cunningham on Happy Days and *ahem* Joanie Loves Chachi.
PJ Soles was almost 30 when she played a high school junior in this film, and was dating Dennis Quaid in real life.
John Carpenter wrote the Halloween theme song, which is also my cell phone ring.
Dennis Quaid was supposed to play Bob (the guy who gets stuck to the wall with what must be some kind of magical extendo-knife) but had to do some other project.
And of course, the mask in the film is a William Shatner mask flipped inside out and painted. But if you didn't know THAT by now, you are no kind of horror fan whatsoever. Sorry. :-[
What I didn't actually know until recently, is that there was a Halloween game for the Atari 2600. Thanks to
sudrin I am aware of many more pertinent facts about said game. Interested? Here's a rather long video that is pretty amusing right up until the end. Just the first six minutes is truly interesting and hilarious. Contains multiple swears and some murders depicted in hilarious low-res 80's graphics. They also talk a bit about the Atari classic Haunted House, which I recall playing for hours and hours back in the day.
I was up until almost 7:30 this morning as I'm still working all my good ideas and fascinating bits of character development into the harrowing Kiss Me Like You Love Me, which is supposed to be finished frighteningly soon. I'm enjoying it more and more as I work on it. Good thing too, as I wouldn't want to have The Cat's Apprentice style ambiguity about a novel ever again. Despite my ramblings to the contrary, no one in this novel is based on any person, living or dead. I'm totally not in the mood to be sued. If I was, I'd be writing an unauthorized sequel to Catcher in the Rye. *shudder*
I've decided recently that I really like Adam Ant. I'm going to hunt down his documentary where he talks openly about being bi-polar. I watched his ep of Tales from the Crypt today. He's wonderful in it!

I used to have a set of "Christmas" lights with Ghostface on them. They were awesome, but I lost them in a move.
