A Patch of Blue

One of my favorite movies just arrived yesterday on DVD. It's one I've been meaning to buy for some time, but somehow waited until it was no longer available and I had to buy it from an Amazon vendor. Anyway, it's A Patch of Blue starring Sidney Poitier and Shelly Winters. It's quite a gem. About a blind girl with a horrible drunken mother who meets a charming Sidney Poitier who helps her flee from her seemingly hopeless situation. If you've never seen it, I recommend it highly. It features Hollywood's first interracial kiss, and is a damn fine film in it's own right. And now...I own it.

I also picked up a copy of Persepolis, and my favorite Audrey Tautou movie: He Loves Me, He Loves me Not. That one, I had never seen on sale for less than $30, but then found that I could get it as a free selection from Columbia House. Whoo Hoo for me!!

HORROR fans, do check out The Haunt which is a new horror site with forums and video and lots of interesting peeps. It's pretty new, so now is a good time to join up. I need to amass lots of friends over there. It will create the illusion that I'm popular. ;-]

And finally, I will be very bummed if Tasmanian Devil's go extinct.

I loved A Patch of Blue. It's heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time.

Indeed.

I don't normally spend $20 on one DVD, but I felt that this warranted it.

"He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" is wonderful. I have not seen "A Patch of Blue." I love "To Sir With Love." Sidney Poitier is the best teacher ever in that movie.

To Sir...is an excellent film. It's hard to go wrong with SP.
