He prefers O Negative...

Well, I must confess that eight episodes into Season One, True Blood has grown on me.
I'd been meaning to sit down and watch it to see if I could get past some lazy writing and some overtly formulaic characters. Turns out, I did. The show is actually quite compelling, with a hot lead vampire and the little girl from The Piano all grown up and looking adorable. I like the different kinds of conflict they set up, and the eps tend to have cliff hangers at the end. Sopranos didn't really do that.

Despite the fact that both Tara and LaFayette are terribly trite characters, they end up serving to advance the plot quite a bit. The Tara/Sam thing is a little weird and forced, but I want to see where they go with it.

Later this week, I'll likely watch the last four eps of the season. I'm sure after that it will be a year or two before we get a new season. My biggest complaint about HBO shows is that they always seem to take a year or more between seasons when they're only doing 12 or 13 episodes. In the end though, I'd rather wait and get a quality product.

She was Rogue in the X-men movies too, and was very good in Finding Forrester.
