Best Meme EVER!

If you saw ME in a police car, what would you think I got arrested for?
(Bearing in mind that I live in Ann Arbor and would not get arrested for marijuana possession)

Answer me, then post to your own journal and see how many crimes you get accused of.
(You don't have to repost if you don't want to)

I don't think I'm done writing for the day, I really need to get ahead so I don't fall behind the weekend before my birthday when I'll be terribly busy. The story is coming along reasonably well, though I'm not sure how horrifying it all is. It's definitely creepy and crazy.

I could see you getting arresteed for taking a stand in a protest for something you believe in. Anything other than that, nah, not so much.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! How funny, last time I was almost arrested I was in front of Planned Parenthood.

That was going to be my guess...

I am reading Twilight right now. I caved because everyone seems to be all a flutter about them, and I like to have some basis for discussion or at least understanding. That's ultimately what made me read the Harry Potter books too.

I like the HP books, I hate romances, and I am fond of vampires depending on the approach used to them. I hated the Anne Rice novels. I love Buffy. So. Twilight is surprisingly good so far. It's not real deep, it's very story-driven. Written from the point of view of Bella, the human female teenager, and set up in the Olympic Peninsula of my state. I fully expected to have to gag my way through it, but I'm actually having a hard time putting it down at night. It's just an easy, pleasant, quick read with pleasant semi-dimensional characters.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'll probably end up reading it, just because everyone I know is. I figured I'd probably enjoy it, even if I am told the ending is the one that appeals to 12 year old girls. :-]

I haven't read it but...

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Vampires out walking in daylight.* You make the call.

*Ohhh but it's Washington state which is overcast, so that makes it all ok

Re: I haven't read it but...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Overcast? Seriously now...

I'll probably still end up reading it. I'm just not going to pay anyone to do so.

Stoker's Dracula didn't have a problem wandering around in daytime Victorian England...

Re: I haven't read it but...

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh damn, I forgot about that. I may have to revisit that and figure out what happened in the interim. Part of me remembers that it was a part of a spell, but don't quite remember. You may have me there, but I'm gonna fight it and try to figure out a reason why.

...orrr... the much funnier response

What the hell does the Stroker [sic] guy have to do with vampires.

Your poll does not include my answer about Twilight.

"Could not, would not, with a goat"

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
LOL

Duly noted.

[identity profile] hellamama.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
If I saw you in a police car, I would think you got arrested for getting in a fight in a parking lot.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
That is so like me.

Criminal mischief? :P

Also, how about Have Been Avoiding Twilight Like The Plague? It just seems so... stupid. I was going to buckle down and read them and then I read what they were actually about and I am officially in shun mode.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ha!

Yeah, I'm really torn about the whole Twilight thing, hence the poll. I think the suggestion to read the first one and then see how it goes is a good one. That's what I'll probably do after the NaNo is over.

Instead of reading one first, you could do what many of us have done, and head over to [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's recaps. (http://cleolinda.livejournal.com/602881.html) She includes actual passages:
Edward in the sunlight was shocking. I couldn't get used to it, though I'd been staring at him all afternoon. His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. He lay perfectly still in the grass, his shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare. His glistening, pale lavender lids were shut, though of course he didn't sleep. A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal.
as well as her critical reactions to the series as she was reading them. It's very entertaining, all-in-all, and great for a slow day at work *wink*

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Tee hee hee, they're actually Sparkly? Hilarious.

Thanks for the rec. I'll def check it out!

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Too many commas in the quoted passage, for me. It's enough to make a fella comma-tose. (Perhaps the author needs to be comma-terse?) FWIW, the soundtrack's just hit #1 on the Billboard charts. Before the movie's even out.

I'd go with from getting into a scuffle with a tween in a movie theater for talking during the movie, I know how you hate that.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I do indeed. :-]

[identity profile] thehula.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely aiding and abetting, I'm not sure WHO you would have been helping to do WHAT, but as a generous person who is also mischievous, I can only imagine the shenanigans that would land you in a cop car.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, well thanks!

[identity profile] bethie8888.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm debating on the Twilight books too. I'll admit i'm a bit prejudiced, wondering whether a Mormon housewife can adequately cover vampires in a way that would do it justice in my head. I hear the stories are a bit chaste. Now, I'm not suggesting she go all Laurell K. Hamilton with it, but I'm wondering if they hold anything for me. I'll probably see the movie first.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll likely see it first as well. That's what I did with Harry Potter, I had no idea what was up until I saw the first movie.

They are YA books, so there's not going to be any teen sex I should think.

[identity profile] bethie8888.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think one of the Salon.com reviews I read stated it well. The reviewer had a problem in that the main character, Bella, seemed very bland when compared to Edward. Like she was somewhat of a blank slate and a undeveloped character, which would make it easier for a female reader to step into her shoes and sort of live vicariously in the romance. Sounds like typical romance novel fodder. Which, of course, won't stop me from reading it or seeing the movie either. But, you know, duly noted and all.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes, that's one of the things that really bugs me about romance, is that the women are basically interchangeable.

Thanks!!
