Wherein I chatter about The Book:
Got my first royalty check today.
It's not much, but it is enough to buy this backpack purse I've been coveting. It's an awfully nice bag, but I also feel sucked in by the Grrl PowR vibe of the advertising. It's handled intelligently, but it's clearly appealing to my pride in being a chick. Anyway, I'm getting it.
I expected to be much more excited about making a little money with The Book. Truthfully though, I enjoy reading reviews a lot more than getting the money. I suppose that means I'm not turning into a money grubbing douchbag just yet. Good to know. I'll be performing random checks for douchbaggedness if my book reaches anything resembling popularity.
My good friend,
absinthofheart put my book up for Oprah's book club after confirming that I'd be down with such a thing. I would be. I'd love for millions of housewives to read my book, knowing in advance that they are supposed to love it. It occurs to me though, that if I went on the Oprah show she would almost certainly have my mom on as well. THAT would be the best Oprah since Jello Biafra zinged Tipper Gore back in the 80's. Damn, Oprah's been on a loooong time.
On Sunday,
uterdic and myself will finish shooting my commercial. For those of you who only skim this journal, we're making a commericial for my book that will air on Nightmare SINema. It will start out with a blood curdling scream (me) and then a passage from the book being read (also me). The visuals will be a hand stabbing with a little blood spraying, then reviews of the book. Short, punchy ones. My plan is to attract the attention of local horror fans who stay up late watching B movies. So this is a perfect venue for me. I only wish I had more money to run the ads.
BTW, does anyone know why people are still paying attention to James Frey?

Exciting news for Nightmare SINema, we will be streaming on the Net in a week and we are being picked up by the Travis City area. Broader markets...yay.
Oh and Noir Leather was there last night. They were recreating a Vampira Scene for a commercial. It's wild to see how much that show has progressed. Last night they had 3 shooting locations so I wasn't there till midnight waiting for my scene to be shot.
The cast will also be at the Motor City Comic Con next weekend (It's in Novi).

The advertising lady (I forget her name--Diane maybe) said she'd be getting back to me in 2 weeks but I've not heard from her.
Wow, three locales? They must have quite a budget. I'm glad to hear the show is broadening it's market. Whoo Hoo.
