30 Days of Vampires who Act Like Clever Zombies

We saw 30 Days of Night on Thursday. I think it kind of dragged in parts, and the cast was highly unremarkable. Other than that though, I thought it was pretty good. Some real scares and decent suspense. Lots of blood and gore and violence, and people in peril. The ending was pretty damn good, although I bet it reads a lot better than what I saw on the screen. It's a graphic novel, I think.

Why aren't there any cleverly animated cartoons of Sandman?
Somebody better get on that, please!

Went to the video store today and picked up used copies of Children of Men (for H), Vacancy, and the Number 23 which I thought was pretty good. Honore laughed and said it was silly funny, I guess she had a hard time suspending her disbeleif. You know, I'm a big snotty snob when it comes to movies and it drives me crazy when people don't like movies I like. [livejournal.com profile] evandorkin posted the other day that he "hates" Last Broadcast, which I think is an utter gem.

I still haven't seen 28 Weeks Later and it seems that the video staplers don't have it used yet. Did I say video stapler? I mean video stockyard. That's only funny if you've seen the Lord of the Rings episode of South Park. And if you haven't seen it, go YouTube it right this second.

And finally, I've decided to go ahead and do the NaNoWriMo this year.
I have a cool idea what I've posted over at [livejournal.com profile] wednes_writes.

I hated The Last Broadcast, that ending just pissed me off too much.

And 28 Weeks Later is fantastic, I liked it more than 28 Days Later, actually.

When I see 28 Weeks Later for under $15, I'm buying it.

I thought Last Broadcast was really ambitious, but I can see not being able to wrap your head around the ending. It is kind of a cheat, but the whole movie grabbed me--I really liked it.

I love "Children of Men." Fantastic visuals, Great cast. Interesting concept, and well executed direction.

It was in the 3 for 20 bin at Hollywood video, if you wanna pick one up. They have a lot of good used movies right now.

Sadly my impatience caused me to buy it the day it came out.

Look for the building in my icon in the film.
