My icon has Hurley. Remember Hurley?

LOST tonight was way far amazing. I knew we'd get some facts following Ben, and we did. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Ben's parents were probably jerks. No it's no surprise to find out that mom died young and dad was a drunken prick who blamed his son for everything that was wrong with his life. I find it interesting that Ben would tell everyone he was born on the island when he wasn't. What do you's think his point was with that?

Jacob must be related to the black smoke, maybe he is even the guy in charge of it. I have no idea why he is all thestral like and John can't see him. I also don't like that John's faith in everything is shaken the second things surprise him or don't go according to plan. I feel his pain, really, REALLY wanting answers, but he lied about killing his father. He's also going to have to pay at some point for his treatment of Mikhail...he doesn't strike me as someone who will take abuse lying down.

No, I do not think Locke is dead. I'm fairly sure that either The Island or Jacob himself will save him. In fact, Ben even seemed reasonably sure of that, what with all his talk about The Others not being murderers.

Questions:

1. If they aren't Dharma, why are they conducting experiments?
2. What was the deal with the hatch, they never told us?
3. Why are they taking children? Why did they want Walt?
4. Where the hell are Rose and Bernard?
5. Is Jack trustworthy or too far into Juliet to think clearly?
6. Why are they still getting Dharma food?
7. I couldn't see Marvin Candle's arm, was it there?
8. Who are The Hostiles? Were they on the Black Rock? In the balloon?

So thank you LOST, for serving up some drama and some story, even if it only serves to raise more questions. I really need a cool icon or two with Ben Linus. I heart Michael Emerson and his crazy ass TV performances. He's actually a stage actor, he does a lot of comedy. Can you imagine? Comedy

Group was a mind fucker. I'm trying to work out how much denial I'm in; and what, if anything, I intend to do about it. Truth is, that if I had a job my life would be pretty damn good right about now. Some of you have suggested that writing is my job, which is sweet of you. But I need the kind of job where you get money every week or two. Somebody out there must need a friendly receptionist, mustn't they? In all seriousness, I'm not sure what I want to do as far as staying in the program. I wish I could just work with the employment people, but they don't want me to get a job before the wedding and then have to take time off. Frankly, I won't really be into a job while the wedding planning is going on, so it's probably better to wait. I kind of need to work now though. :-[ Sometimes I wish I had abilities that were more "normal" and "average" so I could be happy just working some crappy food service job or something. But in RL I would hate that with a seething passion, which means I would end up fucking it up just so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

I borrowed Hannibal Rising and am nearly prepared to give it a read. I am in the middle of Harry Potter 6 at the moment, so as soon as GreyStash kicks it, I'll be reading about Lecter. I hope it's good, I didn't check out any reviews. For whatever reason, I only keep up with movie reviews. So tell me, dear readers, What's a book I can read that will scare the hell out of me? Any book, from any time, so long as it's incredibly scary. Let's have it!

My idea of scary may not be yours, though I suspect we may agree on Silence of the Lambs.

There's a scene about halfway through Fritz Leiber's Conjure Wife that scared the bejeesus outta me. But usually the things that scare me are movies. Alien, The Innocents, and Seconds scared me the most in chilly theatres.

The Shining holds that honor in a freezing hospital waiting room.

Group sounds like it was great (for all that I'm sure it feels un-great). Keep up the good work.

So far, I've found all of Thomas Harris damn scary.

Conjure Wife? I'm not familiar with it. I'll look it up.

This was def one of those Group nights where it was really tough and made me confront some things I was in no mood to think about. I dunno, I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks for the support!

Wait, Amazon says that's the book Burn Witch Burn is based on. Then I lied, I'm quite familiar with the story. Good call.

Excellent!
And an icon to match. :)

Check out some stuff by Richard Laymon and Jack Ketchum, I don't know if it'd scare you but these two can write some entertaining books.

And Ghoul or The Conqueror Worms by Brian Keene.

I actually have some Jack Ketchum on my wish list.

Thanks!!

Ohhh, more thoughts. When Locke returns he will have just literally returned from the dead. Meaning that he will likely know everything that he needs to know about the island at that time. It doesn't mean that we will know anything more, but it'll be a step in the right direction.

Speaking of Locke returning. It suddenly makes him a Jesus character doesn't it? My guess is that eyepatch dude has a similar capability. He smirked when he said the fence wasn't set to deadly levels. Which also may be how he survived the destruction of all the Dharma peeps. Maybe Jacob saved him too. A while ago I was thinking that Locke would become some sort of Neo character. Where he acquires all the knowledge of the island and will be able to use it to save everyone.

Ok, I'm done spouting off ideas for a while.

Not so sure on Locke returning from "the dead." If Resevoir Dogs has taught us anything, it's that it takes a long time to die from a gut shot.

There is def something fishy about Mikhail living through the ordeal with the fence. He looked deader than dead to me.

The book "It" by Stephen King.

I'm a fan of the movie, and I always thought it was pretty scary. But I read the first chapter of he book in my English class, in broad daylight, and it still scared the crap out of me. *shivers*

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-05-11 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a scary one indeed. I love Stephen King.
