I went crazy online shopping for the wedding. I bought a few more cameras so we are sure to have enough, I ordered a collectible silver sixpence (which I need, because of the poem) that I can loan to [livejournal.com profile] klynnfrost if she'd like. I ordered a gift for one of my caterers and the gifts for all the men (who are all getting the same slick gift). I'm also looking at a few different kinds of lingerie for the "wedding night" as they call it. I'm not much into lingerie, but I do love shopping. I still have to buy the besom (if the color swatches ever get here), the toasting goblets, and all the food and drink and accoutrements therein. I can't believe we're still within the budget, our budget is so damn small.

Today we're getting our engagement pics taken if it can stop raining long enough for us to get outside. I imagine we'll do some B&W and some color, which probably means I'll have to change clothes halfway through. I'm having engagement announcements put in the A2 news, and in the city where my mom and her husband are so they can know I'm getting married. I'm still working on whether I'm sharing my happiness with them, or rubbing my happiness in their faces. Probably a little of both, which I think is okay.

Happy Beltane for all those who celebrate. Even if you don't recognize the cross quarter holidays, it's good to know that today is the mid point between the Vernal Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Get your gardens planted if you haven't already. Myself, I'm sharing space in a friend's garden so I get all the veggies and herbs with very little work--not that I mind gardening work.

Can I ask all you married types what you did for a wedding album? Did you do it yourself? Did your photographer do it? Is it a scrapbook or a photo album? Has anyone gotten the kind that you order already printed up? Do tell, for I need input. I'm leaning toward doing it myself.

When is this wedding anyway? I feel like I should know but somehow I don't?

It's in October, on the 19th.
Invites won't go out until about 8 weeks before hand.

My photo album is this great little thing called iPhoto.

Actually, we should likely have something put together sometime to have around the house, but scrapbooking supplies are so costly. If only I knew someone who had access to this sort of thing.

Another great and inexpensive option would be Apple's iphoto album part of iphoto. It''s like $20 for the first 20 pages (maybe 30 for a hardcover, I don't remember), but you just drag and drop the images and captions into an album, and hit the send button. Apple will then send you the album in a week or so and they look terrific. I was honestly impressed with how good they looked. Thay have several themes, so designing it towards wedding should be easy. In fact, I may do one in the next few days.

I figured there must be some kind of cool Apple thing I could use. I hardly ever use iphoto, I have no idea why...

I created my own, including the book itself, to go with the medieval theme. It doubled as the guestbook. People signed the first few pages free-form, then the photos were put in later with photo corners.

Wow!

That's amazing. I didn't know you could make books too! I love the idea of having the guest book and the album being the same. H's gran is sending us a Hallmark guest book, I wonder what I'll be able to do with it.

oh and i went the traditional type on the wedding album. quite boring now in retrospect. my friend did this one album where it was like the photographer kind of made a scrapbook....it turned out like a magazine layout, it was awesome.

I know several people whose photographer did theirs, they were pretty happy with it. Our super discount package means I have to figure it all out myself, and I'm just not feeling like it. I have a feeling that I'll do something elaborate that will take forever and will immediately wish I'd done something else.

Our photographer put one together from the wedding itself. I made the honeymoon one. I think it's a personal preferance thing. Certainly the making it yourself, makes it way cooler. It has your personality in it and stuff.

I'd like to see your books sometime.

Also, my LJ friend is sending me another copy of Secret Smile. If you loan me Hannibal Rising, I'll score you a copy of it (I'm pretty sure Nate will be able to copy it; I'll have to ask him).

I'll bring the book over tomorrow between 11 and 2:30.

Okay cool, just give me a call before you leave so I'm sure to be up and around.
