What a happy day!! (cue music)

Greetings friends,

I thought I'd post a brief note telling you of my good fortune. Right here on LJ, I came across someone selling VHS tapes of a bunch of movies I do not have. So soon, I shall be the proud ownder of:

I Spit on Your Grave (not to be confused with "I Thumb Thru Your Magazines")
New York Ripper
The Beyond
Last House on the Left (Uncut bootleg)
and Cannibal Holocaust (ditto)

Some of these are Italian, all of them are truly horrific and lousy with gore.
I am totally stoked!!!!!

Revel in your jelousy, friends.

Actually, I'm buying LHOTL for its deplorable violence. I am guessing that you have only seen the American release of the film. The uncut version is quite a bit longer, and has some really awful, disturbing stuff.

I probably wont watch it often, but its a good one for the collection.

And you're a little jelous, admit it.

It probably was the American release, though it IS an american movie, yes? I remember them speaking English (not dubbed). But it was terrible editing. It DID almost look like they left a whole bunch of stuff out. We were teenagers, on a big gory movie kick, watching all the movies we could find that said, "Banned in 50 countries," and that one had nothing good in it at all. Not compared to the film "God Told Me To." That was truly disturbing. "LHOL," was just bad I thought. And we all know that if I don't like a movie, it's no good.

I'm not too jealous because I can always watch them at your house.

LHOTL was indeed American and was Wes Cravens first movie. Just goes to prove that everyones got to start somewhere ( see James Camerons first effort, "Piranha II: Flying Killers" for another example of an excremental first directorial effort...as well as Lance Henriksen geting his nuts bitten off by mutant winged Poisson )

LHOTL is one of many movies that was put on the notorious banned "video nasties" list in 1984, here in the UK. I doubt it'll ever get a release over here in my lifetime ( unless its very heavily cut )
