Sparkle Sparkle!

We got our new toaster today. It's larger than you'd think any toaster would need to be. I haven't taken it for a test toast yet, but I will...probably in the morning. I also bought a bunch of yarn so I could make hats for H's family for Yule. It turns out, there was a whole second aisle of yarn at Meijer I never noticed before. So I got some fun yarn, and then accidentally got baby yarn. No idea what I'll do with that...if only I knew of someone having a baby. ;-]

Remember the great LJ blackout a week or so ago? Paid members are getting a free week because of it. Which is awesome for me because my Lj time is going to run out in March.

I thought I was way ahead of the NaNoWriMo. The widget said I was like, 8K ahead. But when I added it up, I'm only 2-3K ahead and fading fast since I haven't written today yet. I was finishing a scarf. Stupid widget.

I want to see Stranger than Fiction. Who wants to go with me?

My Ring My Ring

This is my actual ring in the actual ring box. You can sort of see that there are 16 tiny diamonds, four on each corner. The sapphire is either 1 and a half or 2 carats...which is pretty whomping huge either way. I likes it a lot!

My fave feature

Even though this pic is fuzzy, you can notice my favorite part of the ring. The sapphire is raised up and you can see the whole stone. Lovely, no?

My hot little hand My hot little hand

Here is the ring on me, alone as I took off my other rings for the pic. If you click on the picture, you can see how the sapphres underneath are a paler pink. Those under the large stone are darker pink.

Does a cheesecake with apple pie filling on top in a graham cracker crust sound good?
It sounds good to me, but it will be for Honore's birthday, so it has to have mass appeal.
If course, we're having vegetarian thanksgiving in her honor as well. Broccoli & spinach lasagne and homeade bread. I haven't decided what kind of bread yet though. I wish I had a good sourdough starter.

What a BEAUTIFUL ring!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I'm quite taken with it.

[identity profile] lostsatellite.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
wow! on the ring!...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
tee hee thank you!

Shallow as it may seem (it kinda did to H) I wanted a ring that made people say WOW!

[identity profile] parilous.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That ring is a wonderful fit for your hand -- not too big, not too small. You have good taste, as it is simply stunning.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Gosh, thanks! It is really well designed, and the whole bottom of the setting is open so you can see all the pretty stones.

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Your ring is stunning, I can't wait to take a gander at it in person! My ring sits high up with a similar setting (so you can see all of it.) At first I worried it would get caught on things, but it hasn't yet.

Cheesecake with apples on top sounds yummy to me as well.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was thinking about your ring when I was choosing them, both because of the gemstone cut, and the fact that it is elevated from the hand.

I must admit, the princess cut is a stunner!

Yeah, I'm totally making that apple cheesecake.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a very nice ring! :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, punk.

When are you in town?

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
18th thru the 26th most likely. I might arrive later than the 18th, but once I get there i'll be there thru the 26th

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. I'm glad you'll be here for the par tay.
So yeah...call me when you want to hang out.

[identity profile] batarde.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Go see Stranger Than Fiction. It's very cute and Will Ferrel isn't annoying.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard nothing but good things. I presume this will be his break out movie that makes critics take him seriously.

[identity profile] diachrony.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I was looking at the pix of the ring itself and thinking "what a pretty!" then I saw the photo of it actually on your finger and my mouth dropped open and I said out loud "Oh my gosh!"

Yeah ... that ring was a perfect choice. It's absolutely stunning on your hand. Yay!

I think the cheesecake sounds very yummy.

Hey ... I just saw this cool zombie teeshirt like five minutes ago! Bet I'll be wearing it while I eat ice cream and watch CNN as the zombies attack.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good one. Reminds me of that 50's style short film about zombie protection. Hilarious!

Yeah, I'm very fond of the ring even though some people seem to think it's "gaudy." Of course, some people think it's okay to wear diamonds from a diamond mine. *shudder*

[identity profile] thehula.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Your ring is very beautiful, but now I have that particular jeweler's radio jingle stuck in my head. Ah well, your ring was worth it!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
LOL

Thanks! I can't stop staring at it, actually.

[identity profile] vjsmom.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The ring is gorgeous!
And the cheesecake sounds good.
Also, in unrelated news, I too have heard good things about stranger Than Fiction.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I am stoked to see that movie. I'd love to see what Wil Ferrell can do with a script delivered without all that shouting. ;-]

I wasn't sure if my cheesecake idea was too weird. H is not very culinarily adventurous, and I'm not sure if it runs in his family...

Your ring

(Anonymous) 2006-11-16 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
It is as lovely as any that I have ever seen. Wear it always, in good health and joy!
(Tell Him that I could burst with pride.)
Love,
Mom

Thank you so much, Mom.

Please know that both of us are really happy.
