Mundane Wednes Update:

For our holiday, we decided to go to the grocery store. Exotic, right? I wanted to go at like, 7am so we could get it over with before all the irritating people got there. But no...H wanted to wait until 1pm. So every asshole and their cart-across-the-entire-isle grandma was there, getting in my way and asking me to help them find shit.

Then as we're waiting to check out, some guy comes up behind me and slams into me like a mack truck. And before I can even turn around to tell him exactly where he can fuck off; I find that he is hugging me. He chats with H and me for a moment...and I'm like, I know I know this guy. I've totally seen him around, but I can't think of his name to save my life. He knows my name, and H's name (well, that it's H anyway--which isn't actually his name). So if you are that guy, please end the suspense and admit it; and I won't tell anyone that you hug like a mack truck. Well, I guess I've already told everyone, but oh well.

Today I'm making babka while H goes to Group. It's actually some kind of nerd game playing, but I call it Group because he does it with a group. I've never made babka before, and this one will be almond, even though Seinfeld says chocolate is the best. Later in the week I have to do a batch of regular bread so we can have sandwiches. I don't usually plan dinners around a bread batch coming out well. But I've gotten pretty good at yeast breads. That is mostly thanks to the Bread Bible I got for my birthday two years ago. It is the best book on breadmaking I've ever used--and I've used plenty: Betty Crocker, Martha Stewart, Whole Foods, Moosewood, Sara Moulton, and Nigella Lawson.

When H gets home, we're going to eat leftover stroganoff (to which I added HP brown sauce--AWESOME) and watch this movie. Here, it's called The Cavern which I thought I didn't want to see. Turns out, I was confusing it with The Cave, which I assumed was a lowly rip-off of The Descent which was great. I imagine I'll post a reveiw after I check it out.

Still pretty sad about Steve Irwin. I guess Discovery Channel is starting a big wildlife fund in Steve's name. The story I read today also said he had been filming "what was to be his last documentary" in Great Barrier Reef. I don't mind telling you that I don't think that's true. Obviously, it was his last doc because he died; but I don't think it was planned as his last. It's especially suspicious because yesterday no one was saying that. My understanding was that he was getting footage for Bindi (his daughter)'s new show. It was supposed to be for very young kids, like The Wiggles but for conservation. I feel kind of like a dork for being so sad. I guess I just prefer to live in a world where such things don't happen. Maybe I'll go all Steve Zissou and go on a quest to kill a stingray. Except that the Crocodile Hunter would hate that...

Oh, LOST fans:
Do you think Libby's David and Hurley's Dave are the same person?

I don't believe for a second that Irwin was making his last documentary. Someone who loves what he's doing that much doesn't quit that young.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, he loves working with the animals, not neccesarily filming them (although he did like that too). Since he owned and ran a large zoo, surely he would have been around animals forever, like his dad.

Good point. But it always seemed to me that one of the things he loved was educating people. And exciting documentaries are great for that. He wasn't anywhere near quiting.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
In 2004 he said that he wasn't going to quit until he could hand off the reigns to his children as they had been handed to him. Bindi was to have her own show this year. I mean, at 8 she probably wasn't going to be swimming with sharks, but it was coming.

For the record I THINK about hugging you like a Mack Truck. Or maybe its something else.. ;)

Oh, my!

Rawr.

Do you think Libby's David and Hurley's Dave are the same person?

This did occur to me when Libby told whatsisname about David in the coffeeshop. I'd say it's 90% likely.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though Dave is a really common name, no other names have repeated on the show.

Did you also know that The Black Rock was owned by a "Magnus Hanso"?

[identity profile] swayworn.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. The writers themselves have said that there are no coincidences on the show -- which is a stupid thing to say, but certainly leads me to believe they're the same dude.

How'd you learn that about the Black Rock? Oh, man, I just googled and found the Lostipedia.

You know, Lost kind of pisses me off with all its stuff that you can only learn by examining all of their virals.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, if you join a few LOST lj comms, you don't have to do anything. People are in a race to be the first person to tell you what they found out playing that LOST Experience game people did over the summer. Somebody condensed all 52 video splices into one vid and you can get it at YouTube.

I honestly don't recall who told me about the Black Rock. But it wasn't in that crapfest book: Bad Twin. I'm a member of several LOST comms, so it could be any of them.

Hugs like that sound very D-esque!

You know, you're really fast at cleaning up dormant members of your friends list...LOL. You need to add me again, cause I need you're input...well, you can lookie if you wantie...

LOL, you said the Wiggles... But yes, Irwin's death is quite sad, whether one likes him or not.

Note: I am such a Net-tard sometimes... for some reason when I write online, all grammar goes out the door...

I can't read your journal because you seem to have unfriended me.

[identity profile] kindofblue328.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You're all good now...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you could guess why I even know who The Wiggles are. It's that adorable little girl I know.

Yeah...no one else on my list does all that deleting and adding. Usually when there's a delete, it's because they are adopting a new monikker. With you though, I just get frustrated because I never know what the hell is going on with you.

[identity profile] kindofblue328.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, kids can get you to watch the silliest things...

I mean, The Doodle Bops...Is that legal, LOL.
