Does this ever happen to you?

As a scaredy cat, I often find it daunting to take a shower when there's nobody else in the house. I mean, there's no telling what sort of Norman Bates/Zombie/Prowler/Axe-Wielding-Maniac could lurk right into your home and um...get you when you're blissfully showering. I find it better to avoid that whole mess and take MY showers when H is here to fend off marauding ghouls, as it were.

Today though, our schedules were such that I had to take a shower here alone.
I steeled up my courage and jumped right in, doing a long hair wash and deep condition while I'm at it.

Eventually, I emerge, all nice and clean and you know--shower fresh.
And I'm fairly proud of myself for not getting all freaked out until I see...forever inscribed in finger on steamy mirror...

Wait for it

R E D R U M!!

(I don't know how to do a backward R, but I'm sure you can picture it)

Stupid H.

J does that kind of shit to me ALL the time, especially if he know's I've been watching scary movies at home alone while he's at work.

I just watched Silent Hill Last night...oy, he got me good! So, you are NOT alone here!

I'm sure H doesn't mean to terrify me; especially since he works midnights and I can work myself into a terrified frenzy by the time he gets home at like, 9am.

But sometimes...

It is comforting to know that it's a widespread problem.

I know this isn't a horror/redrum story but it is a steamy shower story. Years ago my best friend growing up, Carl was dating a girl. It was his first serious relationship so it involved all that annoying choosing of GIRLfriend over friends. Carl chose the girl much to the disapointment of myself and Chet (thought Chet and I became great friends as a result). Anyway, Chet would go on to Carl about how his relationship was Lust not Love and that Carl was a dummy for not seeing it. Anyway, one weekend Chet, Carl and I were all at Chets house getting up to Shenanagains because his parents were gone and we were all taking turns taking showers. Chet went first (since it was his house) and then Carl. But when Carl got out of the shower he got a nice surprise. Written on the Mirror was of course "Lust not Love!"

You wacky scamps!

I wrote this big long thing telling you my Scary Shower Story, but LJ ate it. Foo.

Recap:
When I was 15 or 16, I came home from school and went to hop in the shower. I was undressed and almost ready to hop in when I heard the front door CREAAAAAAAAK open, and footsteps come slowly up the stairs, and then sloooowly down the hall, past the bathroom, then back out again towards the living room. AAAAAAH!

I quietly quietly locked the bathroom door, left the shower running, and got re-dressed. After I was sure the footsteps went out towards the living/dining room, I cracked open the door and looked, ready to slam it shut or bolt. No one there. I stepped out quietly (holy COW was my adrenaline up), and looked up and down the hall, no one. About three steps to the top of the stairs, which led straight down to the front door (split level entry). I looked back into the kitchen and down the stairs, no one. So I was JUST getting ready to run down the stairs and out the door and across the street...

and I looked into the living room, and there is my JACKASS FRIEND COREY, watching TV and eating something he'd raided out of my kitchen. "Are ya nekkid?" was all he had to say. AAAAA. This did start a long-term pattern of him breaking into my house and eating my food. I went back and took a shower and smacked him around later.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-09-03 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa, Jackass is right!

;-]

But it's good to know that your horror movie impulses were good. None of this "investigating the noise" or walking around with a bat saying "Hello?"
