Wednes' Little Helper.

Had to get up after only 3 hours of sleep this morning, because today I was Wednes-of-the-Many-Appointments.

I saw two different docs, one who says I am fine and will almost certainly not need an operation. Still good news but at that hour of morning, I barely cared. Then saw the mental health doc who is giving me two different pill options for sleep. I get to pick the one I like best, which means that he trusts me around sleeping pills. So that is a good sign.
The first one is Rozerem which is suppoesdly the first ever sleeping pill that is not classified as a controlled substance. Usually at rehab type places, they give you other drugs (often anti psychotics) that have sleepiness as a side effect instead of actually giving you sleeping pills. Besides which, sleeping pills are pretty scary to me as I'm certain I could develop a problem in almost no time. I'm just like that. I like drugs, a LOT. The other pill I'll try if the first one doesn't work is more familiar. Seroquel is an anti psychotic that makes you tired as hell. In fact, that's pretty much all it does. The way it keeps you from being psychotic is to make you sleep through it. It harkens back to mental illness "cures" that were actually ways to make a person less dangerous to others (read: less trouble for staff) rather than actually treating the illness. So I'm a bit apprehensive about that one, not sure if I'll even take any.
After that, I had an exhausting session of EMDR in an attempt to stop having those terrible nightmares about my brother, Chad. (the one who is not Mark, for those of you not up to speed).

While I was coming home, I took a cab which means I don't get to pick the radio station. Apparently that Sean Hannity guy can't tell the difference between 9/11 and WWII. It was pretty funny. That guy is such an idiot. Somebody really should tell him that all brown people in the world do not hate America and are not specifically responsible for 9/11. He spoke as if disallowing torture of prisoners was the same as releasing them onto a playground. So Absurd. Do people actually think that "Iraq" attacked the US? Do they not understand that Iraqi's do not support Al Queda? Do they even care that Sayid is fucking HOT? Okay, that's O/T but still worth your consideration... ;-}

I think most offensive is the presumption that if you are against the war, then you do not "support the troops." Walt (my biological father) has a son in Iraq, which means in a technical sense, I have a brother there. But even if I didn't, I would still support the troops. This is not Vietnam, and nobody is gonna be spitting on these people when they get back. At least, I hope nobody is that crass or stupid or mean. Because if you spit on a returning soldier, you are not very nice.

While I'm vaguely on the topic, Why do YOU think we still haven't caught Osama Bin Laden?

We haven't caught Osama because we are not trying to catch him.

I think that not blaming individual soldiers for the decisions of the military as a whole, may be the ONE thing that the country learned from Vietnam. Now, if we're lucky this conflict will teach the country that it's just as patriotic to disagree with an administration as it is to agree with them.

*sigh* ahh, Sayid......

Late last year I heard some high ranking military offical on NPR saying he knew full well where Osama was ( in a very annoyed tone at that). I chalked it up to: perhaps Osama is being hidden by people who have resourses we want. politics.

I actually presume that we hid the Bin Ladens (they are old friends with the Bush's and had plenty of Enron/Halliburton connections).

It's amazing to be that these people actually get radio time.

I agree with the article. That really is a sad situation.

Because he's too valuable to pull out as the boogie man anytime they need him.

I agree, of course. I can't imagine how he has remained uncaught this long if we really wanted him. I mean, the government is a gaggle of incompetants but those military tracking guys are totally on the ball.

In fact, I think it's really a shame that the military guys get such a bad rap when they're living in miserable conditions with substandard equipment, being intimidated into following ridiculous orders. But I digress.

Exactly. On both counts.

While I'm vaguely on the topic, Why do YOU think we still haven't caught Osama Bin Laden?

We never really tried to catch Bin Laden. As you point out above, the family has ties to the Bushes and their oil cronies. And, as [livejournal.com profile] pijeanf says, Bush needs to be able to pull Bin Laden out as the big bad "boogie man"--so thta enough people will be scared enough to think we need to sink billions of $$$ into the "War on Terror." All to make some money for the oil companaies and somehow make up for his Daddy fucking up in Desert Storm, which no one talks about anymore. I stil think that's one reason we went into Iraq in the first place. Bush (junior) couldn't wait for an excuse.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course you are right. Not to mention that our supposed reason for being in Iraq changed drastically mid-stream. From "if you're not for us, you're against us!" to "operation Iraqi freedom" feels a bit odd to me.

... because gayfolk are looking to sunder thirty-five thou ... er, I mean /four/ thousand years of Christian tradition by instituting marriage between Sodomites. It's much more important to pay attention to /that./

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-07-02 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
So if Bin Laden was gay, we'd have him by now?

;-]

Sean Hannity seems like a dolt who REALLY loves Sean Hannity.

I always assume that Bin Laden is in a 'tribal' area of Pakistan where the U.S. and the Pakistan government have no real pull. I am non-expert on the subject however.

I know a guy with a theory that he's hiding in caves and they are just too expansive to get him out. I have trouble beleiving that anyone would live in caves rather than take their chances with the American military. They aren't gonna torture anyone famous, after all. ;-/
