Well, I'm perversely fascinated by THIS:

A new movie just premeired at Tribecca film festival, about people committing suicides on the Golden Gate Bridge. Man, I don't want to give anyone the impression that I condone suicide, (although I don't un-condone it either) I must confess that if I were going to condone such a thing, that's how I'd want it done. Such a magestical and newsworthy way to off yourself, plus, it's from a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

As everyone knows, anything ever done in a Bugs Bunny cartoon is even cooler when an actual person does it. That's why you'll so often see people shooting eachother in the face, wearing many different hats in succession, falling off cliffs and bursting into song. Bugs Bunny does it, and you should too. In fact, your assignment for the week is to do something you wouldn't normally do, that you've seen Bugs Bunny do. Then report back to me. Thank you.

But I digress. One of the central themes when people suicide themsleves by jumping off a bridge is "What were they thinking on the way down?" Aside from that being ghoulish and horrible, it's also utterly unfathomable unless you've actually been in that situation. But just for the fun of it, let's all take a guess at what we'd be thinking on the way down...I'm gonna say "Fuck, this is really gonna hurt, I didn't put much thought into this at all...I mean how much would a gun have c-SMACK!" or some approximation therein. You?
Of course, you don't really have to ponder this question, as the good people at The New Yorker have a 2003 article discussing that very thing.

How many people really do jump to their deaths from the Golden Gate Bridge? Well, in the one year the filmmakers cameras were set up, twenty three. 23. Did you get that? And that's only during the day. Almost the same number of kids in your kindergarden class killed themself in 2004 by jumping off a bridge. I want to keep repeating that because it sounds important.

Happy Birthday Joop, who is celebrating his 105th birthday.
If you're in the UK, do not click on the above link. I'm serious.

Presumably you called 1-877-HANSORG to get the login?

None of it worked for me.

I didn't actually get the code for myself, because by the time I got through, I pressed 1 for information. Someone sounded like they were speaking French, and I was tired and went to bed.

I found some login passwords online but none of them did anything for me.

Correction, everything is working okay now.

That Joop is a madman!

When I lived in Saginaw I went to The Zilwaukee bridge to do that, but chickened out. I had a really bad break-up when I was up there.

It was years ago. I'm better now.

Off topic....

This is the true statement of the week.
