In case you've never seen a cookie before:

I made cookies. They look like this. Pic by me, [livejournal.com profile] wednes.

Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies w/Butterscotch Chips
Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies w/Butterscotch Chips

You can see, I will need to master the fine art of cookie rotation during baking. I ate one though, they are delicious!

These are actually the tastiest oatmeal cookies I've ever made. I got the recipe from what I can only describe as a religious cookie website (I did the second recipe from the top). I'm doing 3 oat based things this year for my holiday force-feeding...oh, I mean gift giving. I'm also doing blueberry oat bread and chocolate peanut granola with banana and coconut. Then I just have choco-peanut butter chip cookies, chocolate orange bread and peanut butter fudge for the locals. Oh, and coconut jam cookies; some cherry, and some peach because those are the good jams I bought this time around. Last year I did strawberry and lemon.

Those look amazing.

Why thanks.

You will probably find some on your special cookie plate if I see you before the holidays!

I could email you some vegan recipes ;-) But only I can eat the outcome!!! Peace!

H won't eat vegan cookies. You should bring some to the Xmas gathering. I still have to plan that with Kassy. Maybe we'll all do NYE or something.

He's missin out, but yes! I have an amazing cookie recipe which includes honeydew matcha and cashew butter and smiles upon smiles! Yay for parties!!! I'll bring my own soy nog to spike, since I've decided not to go straight edge and all. I had the best chocolate flavored beer today at Seva! Just thought I'd let ya know, homie!

cant wait to see ya! Happy Yule(I don't remember if that's the name or not for the pagan holiday, I think that's what its called in my Wiccan books...)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yule is just fine. Solstice is also fine, but a few days earlier. Myself, I like the togetherness, and sometimes buying gifts is fun. I'd rather give cookies & such. People love cookies and such.

For you, I was thinking of baklava.
You likee the baklava? It's the only vegan dessert I can do.

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
OK, I'm officially hungry.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. But yeah, I love the holiday baking.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow.. Now I want cookies!

[identity profile] kindofblue328.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Not fond of baklava, but I can bring something, so dont worry about it. Unless you really want me to send you a recipe to experiment with.

[identity profile] princezna.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
oooh!!!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I didn't ask for your snail mail addy to send you a damn letter bomb!! But now it will be less of a surprise.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Upon looking over my recipes, I see that my granola recipe is vegan if I leave out the chocolate. So you'll prolly get a bit of that to take home.

I think you should give my baklava a chance though. I make it rolled, lemon style. It's an Emeril recipe, but it's still prtty cool.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had to freeze them almost immediatly. It's not at all safe for me to be around a huge mound of cookies.

[identity profile] kindofblue328.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
How does the recipe substitute Honey, with maple syrup?

OK, I'll try the baklava, Ill try anything once... Emeril, a vegan recipe, really???

Bam!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I have alwasy used real maple syrup instead of honey. I'm not a great fan of cooked honey. And when I do the phyllo, I use olive oil instead of butter. It's not reeally noticable, because the syrup is quite flavorful.

[identity profile] kindofblue328.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
wow, you're like a vegan's best friend, lol

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2005-12-10 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but I fear getting Christmas cards.. if I get a christmas card I have to send one.. and so far I have avoided that. ;-)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I love cheesburgers too much to be a vegans best friend, but I may well become a beloved hostess.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-12 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really celebrate Xmas per se. But I should think I would be very insulted to learn that my sending a card obligated someone to send me something in return.

People send cards and gifts because they want to; and if someone thinks less of you because a gift/card was not reciprocated, (of course it should always be acknowleged with thanks/appreciation) then that person is a dill-hole. I understand that there is a certain decorum standards regarding cards, but people have always been cool about it when I say simply, "I don't send cards." When my flist people say "hey, give me your addy and I'll send you a card" I normally do it because I love to get cards. People seem to be pleased getting a thanks and a mention in my journal.

Either way, you can just suck it up because I'm sending you some sweet treats. Do you have any food allergies or strong dislikes I should know about (nuts, coconut, chocolate etc)?
