And for a few brief moments, I feel like a winner.

Of course, the real novel will be about 80K when it's finished. And it will need extensive rewriting since a lot of it really sucks. I also won't be posting any more chapters for awhile. Some crazy crap about not giving it away for free if I'm gonna try to sell it. Sounds rather prostitutey, no?

Anyway, that's two in a row for me. YEAH!!

In other news, our belated Thanksgiving feast was hugely successful. We had seafood alfredo lasagne that was rich in tastiness. It is bad for the diet, but it's not like I eat it all the time. In fact, I'd only made it once before and it was before I met H. We also went shopping for all the Xmas baking stuff. I make H's family and some assorted friends plates of tasty snacks. This year it will be in leiu of actual gifts, so everything has to be extra yummy. And it shall be. And kids, it's the triumphant return of granola. And I've got one compound word for you: butterscotch. Not to be confused with Butters Stoch.

Why thank you. You've been getting a lot of writing done yourself, no?

That is so excellent. I bet you pulled it out for your many NaNo winning flist types. Only one of my NaNo buddies won this year besides me. Too busy having fullfilling lives or something I gues...Bastards!

That sound you hear is of two hands clapping.

Way to go!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So that's the sound of two hands clapping.

Uncanny!

and thanks!!

Wooo! I think I did a Hurley Dance for you last year around this time, so here I go again.

humm... Of course, that sound you hear is me falling over, as I can't properly do a Hurley Dance.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, dear. I do love watching that Hurley dance!!

Amazing, simply amazing!

Gratz!

So now you are off to push it into all the writing contests right?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hell no, it took me almost a year to make last years NaNo submittable for publishing IMHO.

I don't know much about writing contests, nor do I have an agent, which probably adds to my overall non-publishment.

[identity profile] katharinakatt.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Pfft...agents are harder to get than publishers!

Go submit it to some ebook companies, get your foot in the door.

I don't even have agent. :(

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
You think? I've been avoiding epublishing just because of heard some rather unsettling stories in various writing communities. I'm very wary of getting jerked around, since I know almost nothing about this business.

I do have a smallish collection of rejection letters, but they all indicate that I'm just not making it out of the slush pile. I've gotten only one letter that even hinted that they looked it over. But I'm waiting to hear from 2 more places right now. At this point, I'd be happy to get a free critique.

I can safely say it will be a year or more before this new novel is ready to do anything with. I know a guy who has written 4 or 5 Sci Fi novels and can't get published. He's started recording them and releasing them as podcasts. it's pretty amazing stuff.

[identity profile] katharinakatt.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I can suggest the one I went through www.double-dragon-ebooks.com

They do print too, but it starts as a ebook and if it sells well they'll print it. Mine went to print 6 months after the ebook was published.

The staff is great and get back to you quickly.

Hm, maybe I should become a ebook agent. (giggle)

Thanks for the info. I'll totally look into it once I hear back from this "No Sim Sub" place.

Congratulations on sailing over the finish line.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Nice work with that. I wish I had the patience to put 50,000 words to paper. Its the fact that you can sit and do it that makes me know you will be a successful writer.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
That would be nice.
