And then he stabbed the spider with a nail...no kidding, a NAIL!!

Didn't do much today. Was going to clean the kitchen floor and maybe see a movie. Didn't end up doing either one, although I may later on.

My Avon order came today. I was startled in the difference in color between my cream to powder foundation and my pressed powder, which are supposedly the same shade. The nail polish color I picked out is all wrong for me, so I'm going to have to find someone who likes pink to give it to. Everything else is just fine. I got some new shadow sticks, a few flavored lip glosses, some eye makeup remover and a lipstick. It was all either on clearance or some kind of sale. So I got a ton of stuff for just over $30, and I feel better having some makeups around for when I will need them.

Incredible Shrinking Man is on TV right now. We're watching it and eating a thoroughly sub-par dinner from Mr Spots. I think I'm not going to order from them anymore. The last 2 times, they forgot my fries and this time they remembered but they were cold and gross. They also charged me $3.50 for a strawberry shake made from reconstituted shake mix and with no actual strawberries. We should have just had leftover chinese food. I made some kick ass stir fry yesterday with peanut sauce. It has both shrimp and ground chicken and is really tasty. I'm sure I'll have some around 2am when I'm feeling munchy again.

Decided tomorrow I'm going to go to Best Buy to see what kind of scary movie deals they have. I feel like dropping a few bucks on DVD's, though I might just rent Land of the Dead from Blockbuster and not return it, as per their crazy new policy. Nope, scratch that. I just called and they are only carrying the rated edition. Oh, Zombies...why do you mock me?!? Anyway, Best Buy appears to have it for $16.99, so I'll probably go tomorrow and get it from there. They have High Tension for $19.99 but that is more than I can spend right now. So we'll see.

Anyway, if you're looking for me this weekend, don't. I'll be out of town, enjoying nature and other things which do not involve watching TV. I will, however, bring my computer because being in nature is no reason not to have fly tunes.

Who is showing The Incredible Shrinking Man? I always liked that movie. I wish they would put it out on DVD, although I have not seen it in years and it might not live up to my memories.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Turner Classic Movies, or TCM is playing it.

I find that it holds up pretty well.

[identity profile] calpurnius.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Someone had that on in the morning a few months ago, but I had to go off to work before it was done. :-( So i didn't get to see it for the againth time. It was a Richard Matheson screenplay. Do you know that name, Wednesday? I bet you do, but if you don't I bet you would certainly be familiar with some of his work.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I knew he wrote for Rod Serlings shows and a few movies. But having just looked at his IMDB listing, I am blown away with how prolific he is.

I read a new screenplay for I am Legend that's been floating around for awhile, and looks like it will finally come out in 2007. It seems that it is his. Incredible!!

I did not know he also wrote Trilogy of Terror.
I paid $17 to own that movie on VHS, I love it so.

[identity profile] calpurnius.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Trilogy of Terror and the original Nightstalker. As a horror influence for me, particularly in the visual medium, it's him, Romero, and Carpenter.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, for American movies that's a good list.

I still have to give it up for the Italians though...

enjoying nature

have fun,..:)

Re: enjoying nature

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. That's the plan.

[identity profile] stranger-tales.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I noticed that was on. I might be watching it myself but I have it on DVD. And I have a rule about not watching anything on television when I own it on DVD. Someone might point out that the film hasn't had an official DVD release. I got mine from Crypt Flicks at Horrorfind Weekend about three years ago.

And might I ask, just what the hell is a Mr Spots?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's a sub and burger delivery place. They are the only place in town that has waffle cut fries, which I love. But tonight they were cold and dry, which made me frown.

[identity profile] stranger-tales.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I can't get delivery here. I have to drive four miles to the nearest thing resembling a town. Even there, you can't get delivery. There are three or four places that have pizza and none of them deliver.

Life is rough in the sticks.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
That must suck, but I'll be it's improved your cooking skills...

...or at least your planning ahead skills.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet you eat alot of DiGiorno, then, eh?

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Have you seen High Tension? .. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
No, not yet.

Maybe I'll see if someone to send me a downloaded copy.

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I have a downloaded copy on dvd .. but it's the original..I can copy it and mail it to you if you wish.. Only cost me like a buck :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
The original is the unrated one, yes? Or do you mean it's not in English? So long as it's subtitled or something, I'd love a copy. I presume you have the address?

Man...you are long overdue for a cool gift from me!!

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hell don't worry about that!!! I'm a giver. :) I never ever ever ever expect anything in return..
Maybe throw me the adress again.. I lost my whole address book when the motherboard got replaced.
(Fyreangel79@rogers.com)
I'll do it on Thursday when I get some $$ cuz I'm outta blank dvds :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ho Ho!!

I have just compiled for you a package: the likes of which you will be amazed and astounded by. So there.

As soon as you send me the DVD, I will cleverly discern your address from the package, and send you your package in kind.

So there, again!

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Lol! Yer a brat.. and calling me a ho too.. ;) What would I do without ya?

:P

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I meant "Ho Ho" in more of a "Hoo Hah" kinda way.

Silly.

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew what'cha meant. I was just in a silly ass mood :P

[identity profile] stranger-tales.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Please make certain that what you're watching is Haute Tension, not High Tension. Haute Tension being the original French film, uncut and in French with English subtitles. High Tension being the Americanized version that Lions Gate felt the need to stick into theaters.

If there's any doubt, let me know. I'll gladly supply you with the real deal.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
My understanding is that the US release is cut to get an R rating, yes?

I will certainly want the original one, which is, I believe, what I'll be getting. Miss [livejournal.com profile] fyreangel is in Canada and is relatively unfettered by our ridiculous and repressive MPAA.

[identity profile] stranger-tales.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
The theatrical release was cut but they're offering a supposedly uncut version amongst the every how many DVD versions that hit the shelves. The problem here doesn't lie with the MPAA. The problem here lies with Lions Gate who felt that American audiences could handle neither a French title nor a full French language film. Odd how they seemed perfectly happy to see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or more recently Kung Fu Hustle, in their original languages and with the aid of subtitles. I suppose the theory here is that American audiences are ok with Asian languages but not European.

It's a helluva thing when the MPAA is actually less guilty of a crime against cinema than the damn distributor. But that's the same sort of idiocy that kept an Australian language soundtrack for Mad Max out of American hands for thirty years or so.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's a drag. I wonder what thier reasoning is behind that. I am normally a fan of Lion's Gate (being that they were the only place with the balls to release Ho1KC).

Maybe it has something to do with the lacklustre profits for the US release of Brotherhood of the Wolf. That movie should have done much better than it did.

[identity profile] fyreangel.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That is exactly what she'll be watching :)

[identity profile] fflo.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I love waffle fries, too. They should be the standard fry.

I also love a Chicken Philly from Mr. Spots. Mmmmm.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I've never ordered that. It sounds good though.

[identity profile] sweinberg.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Far as I know, Universal holds the rights to "The Incredible Shrinking Man" (aka "Scott's #1 Favorite Science Fiction Film of All Time"). I've been waiting since the first day I owned a DVD player to get this flick on DVD, to no avail.

Not long ago, it was speculated that Uni was holding off on the title, and planning to release the DVD in conjunction with, get this, a remake starring Eddie Murphy.

Thankfully, I believe this project has found the shitcan ... but I just want the damn movie in my collection already. I think the movie's just brilliantly cool.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
ISM is one of the few instances where I'd say that a remake is not really neccessary because the original holds up so well. I have a crappy, taped-off-tv copy that I've watched the hell out of.

I too would welcome a DVD release. And frown mightily on Eddie Murphy getting his mitts on it. I'm so sick of his crap.

[identity profile] stranger-tales.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well if either of you are interested, my Crypt Flicks DVD looks quite good indeed. Probably of the same quality as the TCM print, though I didn't watch that to compare. If you can handle DVD-Rs with no problem, I can fix you up with a copy.

I've also got quite a few other out of print, unreleased Sci-Fi titles that I've procured from one source or another. If there's anything you've had trouble finding, feel free to ask.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I have been trying to find a copy of Chained for Life (about the Hilton sisters, siamese twins from the movie Freaks) for many moons.

Of course, I will be delighted for you to send me some movies. I have a DVD-R now so I can play pretty much anything.

I beleive I sent you my address recently.
