"The Others" are the others on the flight, possibly including Rose's husband whom she beleived was alive all along? They are, however, infected by the nanotechnology that is making all those dark clouds all around, and have also formed some kind of monster out of spare parts?

But why are they stealing children? And what does the computer do?

And what the frak is Desmond doing on the Island?!?



And they really need to stop perpetuating negative stereotypes about sharks.

No, I'm sure there are some other "Others". But the girl in the dirt in the preview clips was the girl Jack talked to at the airport bar. She did say she was sitting in the back of the plane and joked about trading seats.

But, Desmond is GOD. I swear. Did you happen to see the season premiere re-aired? I wasn't watching, but my dad called to inform me that Desmond's parting words to Jack were, "See you in another life." (He's got to trumpet his Purgatory at every chance he gets. "I came up with that idea before it was a popular idea!")

He seemed a little nervous and gun-toting to be God. But it's a viable theory nonetheless.

I didn't support purgatory because of the birth of the baby and the death of Boone. But babies do go to purgatory and Boone was a good guy and may not have had to do much time.

Yeah, the whole nervous gun thing is a bit un-Godly, but I was just thinking even God would go crazy underground for that long.

The baby thing is what keeps sticking me, too. Babies do go to purgatory, but before they're born? It seems like the baby should have already been dead or have died almost immediately after birth, since it didn't have a chance to do anything. Boone I could accept, because I never got the impression that he was good or bad. Just sort of there, and therefore with less to make up for than everyone else.

yes, it had a polar bear on the cover, but it's about far more than that. I think it lists the basic plot outline for the rest of the story. Yes there will be variables, but I think this is a really good starting point, and everything does sort of fall into place from what we do know of the story. I don't think that the Others are other people from the flight... and I am not sure that the people Jin was running from where THE Others, Danielle's Others. Nor am I sure that that people who grabbed Walt were the Others, although I was assuming that after last season. If you watched the scenes from the episode next week

It looks like the group that had Jin also has imprisoned Michelle Rodriguez's character, who Jack met before the flight... she was on the flight and I think they made a point of saying she was in the tail section (she tried to trade tickets with Jack, didn't she...?). Now if the people that are holding her are also fellow survivors from that flight, I wonder. I was assuming that they were not, that they were castaways from some other damn source. But maybe they are from the flight, and are changed. I don't like the nanotech theory for some reason but all this talk of infection, it kinda supports it.

If Kate kills Desmond before we get any good info out of him I am gonna be pissed.

Okay, just watched it. And I think Jin is just talking about the others on the flight, not the Others (e.g. Ethan). And the others tied up Jin because he didn't speak English so they figured he must be one of the Others who are probably tormenting them too.

Yeah, that episode didn't give ANY answers away. And the backstory was, again, boring as hell. YES WE KNOW MIKE LOVES WALT.

I do think the Michael/Walt backstory is going somewhere. That kid has the shinin', I'd bet my life on it. That may even be why that guy (Brian?) didn't want to keep him after his mother died.

Oh, sure, the backstories will all eventually give us the creepy true reasons each person is on the island. But they are very spare with this information.
