Ho-Hum

Went to pick up Clarence's ashes today with [livejournal.com profile] uterdic, whom I see very little of these days. I won't go into all the details of that and my horrible thought process; but suffice to say, this is still a total fucking drag. Pentelope is fine now. Her new fave hobby is still swatting at bubbles.

I need to find an illustrator, by which I mean someone who can draw scary bloody scenes and has time to undertake a large project sometime soon. I have been wanting to turn my long zombie story into a comic for quite some time. But I can't draw and need a very serious partner in this endeavor. So if you know anyone...do hip them to me.

TV sucks. I hardly turn it on anymore, although right now I'm sort of watching a nature show. I've been playing music instead, letting my mind wander. That's a big thing for me, since I like to keep sort of a tight leash on my wandering mind. You never know what kind of ghoulish place it will wander to, or what it will do when it gets there. Besides, TV is fucking boring and repetitive and garish. If it were a place, I would not stay for very long and it would probably make me have a headache.

Do any of you writers out there write with a partner? How's that working out for ya? I often wonder if it would be a help or a hinderance to write with another person. I'm moody and meticulous about my work. (Not my LJ mind you, but my actual writing.) Plus, aren't most writing teams comedy writers? My work is more like sarcastic horror about crazy people...so that's not as funny I guess. Anyway, I'd love to hear the input of those who have writing partners.

On a completely unrelated topic, am I the only person here who used to think hippopotami had squared off teeth? When I was a kid...in the 70''s and early 80's, even pictures of hippos had squared off teeth. They were like that on tv, at the zoo...everywhere. And then when that Congo book came out and people were talking about it, I was like What are they so scared of? Hippos can't hurt you! But it turns out that they have huge fangs. Who knew? At least I'm not as dense as my cousin; He thought they ate white marbles. heh heh heh

Hippos in zoos do have squared-off teeth, oftentimes. They pull (or used to, dunno if it's still the practice) the tusks. They do that on chimps too. So what you see are like molars and incisors...non-puncture-teeth.

You're not crazy, you just don't usually see hippos in the wild around here...*hee*

I just think it's so wierd that because they do that in zoos, people grow up thinking they actually look like that. Any time you'd see a cartoon or drawing of one...plus the Hungry Hungry Hippos had the squared off teeth.

I think this bothers me because this is a rather large misconception about the animals. While I consider myself a "friend to the animals" I support zoos (even though PETA and others deride zoos as unnessesary and cruel to the animals) because I think it's important for people to see and appreciate animals up close.

I tried collaborating with another writer on writing projects before, and it drove me nuts.

details, please?

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2005-08-13 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
I heard or read somewhere that more people have been killed by hippos than any other animal.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-08-13 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
I can see that as Hungry Hungry Hippos is very competetive. I'm not at all surprised to hear that it occasionally turns to violence.

Kinda like that scene in Airplane with the girl scouts, no?

;-}

Exactly!!

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2005-08-14 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well maybe we can come overt tomorrow night and watch Sunday night TV.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-08-14 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
That would be nice. I haven't really been inviting people over since my TV sucks so bad. But everything is reruns tomorrow so we can watch it and still be able to converse* and stuff.

*by which I mean the talking, not the shoes.

Give me a call in the late afternoon or early evening.

Did you ever see Profit back in the 90s? It just came out on DVD and while I didn't think of you until just now, it seems like you would have enjoyed it.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-08-15 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
First of all, you think of me constantly. Don't bother denying it. ;-}

But no, I have not.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2005-08-15 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably more than is decent. I've had that problem for a while. It also happens a lot on Wednesday. ;-)
