Clarence Pt 3

Well, Dan just drove us home from the vet where we've been since noon. Clarence, as suspected, is very sick. They don't know if it is lukemia, diabetes, or some kind of poisoning. We left a $250 deposit and they are going to begin tube feeding her tomorrow. They will also do some more tests. I couldn't take her to the A2 Cat Clinic as they could not get me in for three days. The humane society wouldn't see her until August 10 so this was our only option. As she has lost wieght and muscle mass, and was obviously dehydrated I didn't think I should wait. The doc agreed.

I was freaking out and crying in the docs office. They gave us an estimate of almost $1,000 to keep her for three days. I didn't think it was possible for me to mooch off of H more than I already have. Anyway, they are going to do some tests and feed her fliuds and some food and we'll see from there. I may have to put her down, as they say. Yesterday I didn't think there would be anything worse than waking up and finding her dead; but having to decide her fate is infinately worse. She has something wrong with her liver and it is making her 'yellow" in her eyes and mouth. For now, Pentelope seems to be fine.

By the way, I don't suppose anyone would like to pitch in $5 or $10 toward the vet bill?
If many people pitched in a little, it would help us out a lot.

I'm really sorry that your cat has been so sick...I hope there's some way that she can get better and pull through and that you don't have to make the decision to put her to sleep...

Thank you so much. I must admit that I was a bit unprepared for how torn apart I would be by this...

I checked on her by phone and they said she is resting comfortably and is being hydrated. They said it may just be that she was stressed and stopped eating and that made her sick.

That is terrible. If i get some money i'll pitch in 5 or 10 bucks. Poor kitty. The vet told me that my dog had to be put down and that he would die in 2 months if we didnt... 2 1/2 years later the doggie was still fine and really healthy.

Ok, so my dad and I were talking about stuff yesterday and he was mentioning be careful if cats tend to eat string, it can be very if they do. In fact, it immediately made me think of you and Clarence. He said, after an autopsy, or x-rays it is very hard to see, but the intestine trying to get rid of the string will pull itself in and the string will saw through the intestine. He also said it's something that is very hard to diagnose. Just a long shot, but you may want to mention it to the vet.

I did mention that to the vet, as well as her love of licking plastic bags. She didn't seem to think that was the issue, but it's still pretty up in the air at this point.
