FYI
You know, I just saw this lady on TV and thought "damn, she's seen better days". Not only was Miss Child amazing, but she taught one of my favorite current TV chefs (Sara Moulton) how to succeed as a female chef in a world of Emerils and Martin Yan's.
Farewell, Julia Child
In other news, it seems that the job interveiw is for a job not on the bus line. So I am not going. No point in spending $30 to cab it to an interview for a job I can't take. Sad days, I tell ya. But plenty more jobs in the sea or whatever.
H is back to work tonight, and for some reason he is asleep right now. He'll be gone all weekend. Plus my roomate is skipping town and taking the dog with him. I will be quite lonesome this weekend, so hopefully someone will take pity on me and invite me to a movie or some such. Or I guess if you want to rob or murder me, you can; since I've just told everyone I'll be home alone all weekend...
The shark movie on AnPlan was pretty lame. First of all, it covered the attacks that Jaws was based on. Maybe they didn't hear, but I think they already made a movie like that. It's on TNT pretty much every other weekend 7 or 8 times. Although for a TV movie, there was a fair amount of gore and cool effects. They did an excellent job of portraying someone whose face was drained of blood due to their newly missing limb(s). I was thinking it was going to be about the Austrailia attacks of the 1920's. But no, it seems that they'd rather tell about sharks eating Americans to show what pinko commie terrorists sharks really are deep down inside. Maybe they should change the name to Great Red shark, or perhaps Cacharacdon Terrorist!
There are at least 2 extrememly cute kittens hanging out in our parking lot. They sure are cute. I wish I was in a position to take them in. Did i mention how cute they are? I saw one of them this morning. It was a tiny black one that looked like Pentelope. It said "meow." Can you beleive that, "meow"? It was adorable! The other one appears to be that grey stripey color. So Cute!!!

That was a loss. Though I know it kinda brands me geek-flavored, I loved Julia Child. Sure, she was easy to make fun of, but she was responsible for beginning the demystification of fine cooking in the US and singlehandedly starting the cooking show genre. If nothing else, I'll always respect her for encouraging us to try cooking and eating things we may never have tasted before.
And she ate butter, joyfully and without apology, till the end of her life.
