Verbosity?

How do you pronounce these words:

C O U P O N : Koo-pon or Kyew-pon?

C U M I N : Kyew-min or Koo-min?

B A S I L : Bazz-zil or Baze-zill or Bah-zill?

I won't even get into the whole caramel/carmel thing. The last time I tried to have that discussion, I swear a fight almost broke out.

I'm highly stoked to see The Passions of the Christ, especially now that I hear The Ponitff has some kind of problem with it. Anyone know what all the fuss is about?

I remember going to see Last Temptation of Christ at the movies when I was still a smart alecky kid. There were reporters and protesters there, whom I just had to talk to. I remember that the protesters had not seen the film, and that the reporters had to keep a certain distance fromt he doors of the theatres, and there were cops there making sure they did. As a kid, I found that way far fascinating!

Of course the film itself is going to be fabulous and brutal. I'm surprised that the Christians are so excited when its' going to be so violent. I am kinda bummed that they put subtitles in. What kind of person needs the last 12 hours of Jesus' life narrated for them when they are seeing it on the screen?!? Anyway, I can't wait!

for me it is

Q-pon, Q-min, and Bay-sil....no one ever accused me of being normal..but at least I say noo cle ar instead of noo cul er for nuclear.

I read a whole bunch about the movie, and I think subtitles are kinda cool, but I took a year of Latin and would like to see if I remember any of it. Apparently Pontius Pilate is portrayed as sypythatic to Jesus's plight..riiiight I have a hard time with that one.

My take on Pilate is that he was a politician, which means he probably had very few ideas of his own, and bowed always to the will of the voters. Of course, David Bowie didn't really play him that was in LToC...so we shall see...

I cant remember the time period but is this when rome had a senate or when there was just emporers of rome. Cause if he were emporer I would think he would have had more power and say. Of course he still had to deal with uprisings and things and I am sure it would be quite a threat to the empire to hear of a man that was "king of the Jews" and gave a bit of power over the Jewish folks who at the time had no status.
