Press my What?

I just wasted 2 full hours watching a show about a "scandal" in the game Press Your Luck. Basically the 2-hour scandal is that a guy figured out the "random" pattern in the big game board, and played it like a video game, winning a shitload of money. Network guys were pissed, and tried to not give him the money saying he "cheated" when clearly, he had not. He was just somewhat clever.

The whole program (on the Gameshow network, plastered with commercials for the new PYL) turned out to be this propaganda thing about how this guy (who is now dead, BTW) is creepy and sinister and evil because he beat the network jobbies at thier own game. It was insulting to my intelligence to watch; but it was fun to scream at. Plus I had a bunch of guests who were totally into it.

Back to the doc tomorrow, to try some more pills and see if I can't do a better job faking sane. Gotta go back to work soon.
Oh, and a big "shout out" to Ryan for taking me to get my cheque!!

that's funny, I have the same memory but with 2 brothers.

Did you guys make a fort out of the couch cushions too?

hmm...don't remember that, but it must have happened...just not while watching Press Your Luck, I suppose...

I do remember pretending we were contestants, even if the show wasn't on...and using my Barbie suitcases as the whammies...we were a bit strange, what can I say...

Oh, c'mon. I had looking forward to this special, and it was better than I thought it would be. Those Game Show Network people milked every possible ounce of intrigue and scandal they could out of this incident-- and indeed, I thought it was interesting to look at Michael Larson's reactions frame by frame. That Larson's post-win life was marred by excessive greed, failed romance and fatal cancer only made the total story more absorbing. I'll give the whole shebang *** out of ****. I had been wanting to see those two episodes for years, which admittedly helps.

my first instinct was to figure out what curses have only three letters.

Oh you "C'mon". the "scandal" was that he watched the show often enough to figure out how to beat it.

They spent 2 hours trying to make a regular guy look bad, because A) he embarrassed some people B) he's dead and can't defend himself.

It was more one sided than CNN.
