Well, excuse me for using my goddamn brain.
Let's not go to the Internet. 'Tis a silly place.
I've been told I'm "becoming one of those people who has to make everything political." This happens because a) when people post shit on the internet, I assume it's because they want to talk about it. And b) that when people want to talk about something, that they know the first thing about it. Apparently by challenging people's cut and paste view of the world is mean and causes things to be political when, I guess, they otherwise would not be.
I am by no means a historical scholar. In fact, I don't study much of anything unless it pertains to my life, writing, or something else of profound interest to me. Even then, my habit is to watch TV about it or read a book or two. I'm not a serious scholar. But it doesn't take a serious scholar to know that the Founding Fathers were not actually committed to the proposition that all men are created equal. Lincoln said that, and he said it about the Civil War. Duh. Some other asshat posted some shit about the Pledge of Allegiance and credited THAT to the Founding Fathers. Unless this country was founded in the 1840's...I'm not even going to finish that sentence. Is it really so much to ask that when people add to the virtual cacophony that is Teh Onlines that they have the first goddamn clue about what they're talking about? Or at least to not be pissy and judgmental when somebody says "Gee, that is factually incorrect and makes no sense."
Point is, I *do* think it's important when Georgia wants to make women who miscarry guilty until they prove their miscarriage was not an abortion. People should be aware that businesses are considered people under the law, or that rich people are swimming in cash and paying little to no taxes, while poor people have to choose between food and medication. That's not me making it political; that's them wishing they could get back to their fucking Xbox so they aren't reminded of how powerless they are to stop how screwed they're getting.
I'm gonna have the book reading for Beta Readers at the end of the month. I have a way to go, but it's coming along great. The rats are really bringing the whole thing together.
Zombie Zone News interviews are going well. Freelance work, not so much. I still don't understand Associate Content's photo guidelines, or why they would even ask me to write about finance. Unless it's an article on dodging creditors, I really have nothing to add.
In cooler news, H made me a book containing all known information about The Dothraki Language. I've also got a book or two coming about Linguistic Anthropology, and am hoping to get some reading in on Sociolinguistics. I predict I'll have an aptitude for it.

And everyone has an opinion about stuff, even if they haven't got the first clue about it. Shocked and outraged over someone with a massive media trial... but our justice system has to prove guilt and they didn't. (not applicable in Louisiana, they have somehow stayed under some other rules, and most people don't know that, either) I wasn't shocked at all... I haven't followed that closely, but enough to know they didn't have a case other than a lot of people lied.
Oh, loaned all your books I'd bought to my Mom to read, but I don't know if I'll ever get them back, I don't think she's speaking to me at this time. I'll probably have to buy new ones... can I ship them to you to autograph, and pay for postage to me?
I've been a poor blogger this summer... when it's hot like it has been here I hate to sit in the house. Seriously... I like to sit outside and sweat and loaf around with a fan on the porch. :)
