Only Tuesday? Come ON!

As you may have noticed from my avatar, I'm having the kind of week where virtually everyone I know can go fuck themselves. Tons of stupid, annoying, irritating shit bringing me down. Nothing major, nothing life changing, just an endless stream of petty bullshit and people irking the ever loving hell out of me. Plus, I have a ton of stuff to do and don't feel like doing any of it. And, it appears very unikely at this point that I will be able to get a table at the Vampire Ball. This makes me very sad.

Among everyone else, that chump at ABC news can kiss my ass. So excited to tell the Twitterverse that President Obama said something "controversial" (not that calling Kanye West a Jackass is particularly controversial--people seem to be in basic agreement about it) that he wiped his ass with established journalistic ethics. "Off the record" means precisely that. If you can't follow such a simple rule of basic respect, get the hell out of journalism and don't come back later on FOX "news."
It really pisses me off the lengths that people are going to make Obama look like a bad guy. His articulateness is described as elitism; his manners as weakness; his inclusiveness as well, I hate to use the term "race traitor" but that seems to be the basic message; and his desire to give all Americans access to basic human services is either communism or fascism depending on who is making the signs. It disgusts me. Tolerating the Patriot Act, not to mention an unjust illegal war while raising cain over helping middle class people keep thier houses? W.T.Fing.F?!?

And finally...

That skit was so hilarious. I got the impression that at various points Patrick Swayze is having trouble keeping from bursting out laughing.

I would think so.

Sad to know that both those dudes are gone now. I was such a fan of Chris Farley...and then losing Phil Hartman 2 weeks later...it was almost more than I could handle.

I forgot that their deaths were so close together. Jeez, all three of them dead now.

There was a really interesting story about how the black/Hispanic communities are perceiving criticism of Obama on NPR this morning. I've never been a fan of playing "the race card" because I think it's a generally over-used as a sterotypical excuse by people who aren't as educated or as articulate as they should be. However, the dialogue today was interesting in that in NO OTHER TIME IN HISTORY has a president been this disrespected by members of Congress and the media like this president, and this level of disrespect (shouting "liar" during his speech, assumptions of socialist agendas, not wanting their children to listen to a speech on responsibility, etc) is being attributed to (at its core) an undercurrent of unacceptability.

People aren't comfortable with a black president. They're acting out in any way they can to discredit and disrespect him, which would (under any previous president) be considered unacceptable behavior. With Obama, it's just tolerated. It was an interesting discussion. Several conservatives I know here are black, and they don't like Obama or the current administration, but they have never made the same arguments you hear on Fox News. The arguments are more generalized and never disrespectful. However, liberals and the liberal media have gone the other direction, and border on Obama worship, so I think we're in desperate need of some middle ground here.

Just one of those things that got me thinking, that's all. And if we lived closer together, we would have lunch and I would said, "Oh my GOD did you hear that thing on NPR?"

Wow, that is something. I don't want to think that such a large portion of people are so prejudiced, but I guess bearing in mind that my mother and her husband are both consummate racists, I guess I should not be surprised. My initial reaction when I heard a black guy named Barack Obama was running for president was that it would never, EVER happen. America just wasn't ready yet. Turns out, almost half of us weren't. Maybe more, since plenty of racists don't bother to vote.

It just makes me sad. He is easily the most capable, articulate president in my lifetime. He has great ideas and is motivated and intelligent enough to pull them off. Yet he's meeting resistance from the very people he's trying to help.

I understand that it's a long standing tradition of the republicans to espouse "family values" and having a Christian nation and all that faux morality garbage. It's a plot to trick sheep into thinking they're the "good guys" while they rob the poor and middle class, and treat our Constitution like toilet paper. But I digress...

It was a very interesting story, and it definitely got me thinking. Red fever is not a knew phenomenon, people have being crying "socialist!" for years (or worse, "Communist!"), but the WAY that the disrespect is being perpetrated is despicable. Furthermore, it's precisely BECAUSE he is so eloquent and intelligent that the arguments against him being untrustworthy or deceitful don't hold water. And yet! And yet! *sigh* What is WITH people?

Oh crap, I used the wrong NEW (knew) which makes me look like a tool. Sorry!

Meh, that's why they call it "human error." Although in your case, it's probably SuperHuman error because you're awesome.

Ha! A buddy of mine just posted a pic of protestors outside the White House with anti-Communism signs. Know what they were protesting?

Integration.

Frown.

I couldn't agree more.

You're very welcome.

I've just had one friend of 20 years kiss me off completely for mentioning her new "partner"'s past violence and abuse of women.

And a recently suicidal one tell me I don't have the facts and can't possibly know anything.

And the imbecile teabaggers are fighting their own interests as usual while dissing a president who makes their look like the petulant sociopathic schoolboy is his.

It's a crazy-ass time alright...
