Apple is not going to cover the repair of my headphone jack.
In fact, they can't even ballpark for me what it's going to cost.

I am so sad.

I had an issue with my power jack and found a guy's business where I shipped my computer to him, he replaced it and he shipped it back and in totally it cost me $80.

Granted, it's a Gateway and it was a different jack completely. BUT! Don't just ship it off to Apple. Shop around your area and on the internet to see if you can find a company that will replace it. I'm not sure how much there is in the world of non-Apple Mac repair, since from what I understand they're harder to bust in to, but it's worth a shot.

Luckily, there's an Apple store less then 5 miles from me. I have an appointment to take it in on Thursday so they can diagnose what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix.

I'm not shipping it anywhere, mostly because I'm under a writing deadline and can't be without it.

I wish I had mad apple skillz, but its been 15 years since I serviced an apple, back when the mac laptop was grayscale and had a trackball on it.

Actually there's a local dude who offered to help me.
So I'm going to Apple on Thursday to get it diagnosed, then decide what to do from there.
