Music

I need to discover some new music, which I will download for free...

Somebody recommend something good.

Alternative, Indie, Rock N Roll, Rap, even country if it's really, really good.

I want wicked beats, intelligent lyrics, smooth voices, stuff that will really knock my socks off.

Failing that, just tell me what you're listening to.

Thanks man, that's quite a selection.
I enjoyed most of it very much!

I'm all about some Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy :)

Sadly, Limewire is not all about them at all.
They sound whimsical and cool though, I'll keep looking!

Thanks!

I still need to find Franti's older stuff. Yellfire's the earliest thing I have. : )

Wow! That's some great stuff.
Thank you!

Dude, you want all of the new Arthur Russell release, Love is Overtaking Me. Totally.

I've been into Fischerspooner lately. "Emerge" is a good song to start with. Also, the bands Spoon, My Morning Jacket, and The Black Keys are among my current faves. They're all hard groups to pin down musically.

Sweet, thanks!

i've been listening to lots of relatively unintelligent brain-rotting metal lately, so i dont have anything really good to recommend. why, u might ask, would a person want to listen to music of that nature? i dunno. just in that kind of a mental space these days.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I can certainly understand that.

If you don't mind irreverent (which I don't think you do), try out some MC Chris and MC Lars. For extra geekery, listen to MC Chris's "Fett's Vette" as loudly as possible.

Damned catchy tune.

Another, now that I'm thinking about it: Thievery Corporation. The latest album of theirs (which I actually *BOUGHT*, omg!) is Radio Retaliation.

I don't know if you're into Aesop Rock or Atmosphere. I really like intelligent hip hop, almost ala Mos Def, but not quite.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I'm actually checking out Aesop Rock for the first time. I likes it!

I've been listening to The Slackers quite a bit lately.

And Chopin.

That's about it. Otherwise, I'm at work or watching Wall-E. :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Wall E is pretty incredible.

Thanks!!

They made some awesome rec's. I am rich in new music, having downloaded 2-6 songs from every band mentioned that I enjoyed. Now I have to pick up the albums or I'll feel terribly guilty.

[identity profile] gifgal.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
i steal almost 99% of my music...so uhhhhhh dont feel guilty around me at all :P (and darnit, i dont wanna feel guilty! lol...at least i buy coldplays cds ((but thats it)).
