The truth is elsewhere...

I bet this is little more than a publicity stunt to hype Californication.
So he's not an adulterous womanizer, he just plays one on TV.

I must confess though, that the story David Duchovny leaves sex rehab is mildly arousing.

Am I alone in this?
I bet not.

I was just talking to someone about this yesterday. Like, if it was a turn on that DD was a sex addict.

I vote yes.

You are not alone.

Sorry, while I appreciate your shiny little hope, I must disagree.

You don't do anything even close to this unless you are desperate and single. This is traumatic to your kids and especially your fabulous wife in a way few other things are. It's not about money or tv ratings (they've got plenty of money, and he'll keep getting work). It's about addiction.

Oh, I'm sure. If it's true, then it's a very serious issue. I just have my doubts since he's playing a womanizer on TV and is damn successful at it. Besides, I like Duchovny and would be sad to learn that he's dealing with an addiction.

It's type-casting.
I suspect he's very good at the womanizing (and remember he looks good in a dress too). His whole career (even porn-loving Mulder) has had a little edge to it of the sort his sadly-revealed private life suggests.

Addictive personalities often become famous. There's a lack of equilibrium there that suits many famous folks. Warren Zevon's biography is exhibit A for that...

Maybe that's why I'm not as famous as I wanna be, not addicted enough. ;-] Yeah, I recall now that Mulder loved phonesex girls. tee hee hee

I haven't read the Zevon bio, I should though. I've always enjoyed his music.

The Zevon life is not for the faint of heart.
What a wack job he was.

But I'm still glad I saw him so many times when he was alive...
