Undecided voters, etc

I honestly cannot understand how anyone could be an "undecided voter" at this point. How could a person seriously not know whether they favor a pair of right-wing religious extremist who long to continue the current regime, or a liberal intellectual bringing substantial change? I could understand (kinda) someone disagreeing with my stance on things...but being undecided? I just don't get it. I know a few people who support McCain, and while I can't stand to discuss it for fear of punching them in the face, I respect that they have the right to vote for who they want. Any undecided voters out there? I'd be very curious to know what's holding you up.

It seems to me, more in this election than past ones, that the Reds pretend to support things like stopping gay marriage and an anti-choice agenda so they can trick fundies into supporting things they would never support otherwise, like huge kickbacks for oil companies and rebuilding foreign countries before tending to our own. I don't wanna angry up my blood this early, but I wanted to say that.

Off to work this morning, I have a ton of work to do. It'll be a short week though since I'm going on a writers weekend to Clare, MI with [livejournal.com profile] absinthofheart this Friday. Gonna work on my serial killer since I finished editing it over 2 days at work. Well, not finished really, but edited enough that I can get in there and continue writing. I've been in kind of a slump with this story, but I'll get it. It's too scary and good to not finish.

In computer news, this 2-finger scroll thing is awesome now that I'm getting used to it.

Lunch with my Aunt/Godmother on Wednesday. It's making a bit nervous, mostly because I've put on so much weight since she has seen me last. I don't think she will judge me over it, but she may worry. As a fat person, having loved ones "worry" about me is worse than having them judge me. I hate to think I'm making anyone worry about my health; it's too guilt-inducing.

I know a couple of undecided voters, and what's holding them up is the VP's. They're convinced that McCain will be either senile or dead shortly (just from being old and not in great health), and that if Obama wins, someone will shoot his ass. And they hate both VP's equally. So.

I think if when Obama wins, he needs to get the Vatican on the horn and get a Popemobile of his own, yo.

Seriously.

I agree that there's a good chance McCain won't live through his term, provided he has one. I'd hate for a book-banning, anti-choice fundie to get the nod.

I don't know any undecided voters, at least ones who've admitted it. I agree with you. If you're undecided in this election, you're just dumb.

Speaking of writing, I got The Cat's Apprentice and am in the midst of reading it! I'm liking it even better than when I read it in [livejournal.com profile] wednes_writes. You polished it up nicely.

And thanks for the shout out. : D

Cool, I'm glad you're liking it. I'm desperately in need of an Amazon review.

I'll have one up there as soon as I finish reading. : )

Sweet, thanks!

"Undecideds"-- maybe these are the people who vote based on "personality"--which I don't get. I'm NOT voting for who I'd wanna have a beer with!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-09-29 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really get that either...the personality vote. Seems like a pretty ignorant way to decide on a president.

Then again, one of the many, many reasons I don't like McCain is that he cheated on his first wife. But I also despise his politics.

I believe I posted some photos of my vote. LOL

Ha!

What's the big quandry for undecided voters? The economy is in the toilet. Our involvement in Iraq is an unmitigated distaster. The environment is in shambles. Our foreign policy is feared or despised by much of the planet. Our human rights are at an all time low. Is this really a worthwhile trade-off for people who are anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, or too racist to vote for a black candidate? I honestly don't see any other reason why someone would vote Republican at this point.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm with you dude. I have a really hard time imagining that there is another side of this thing.

Plus, Barack is just dreamy...
;-]

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, in addition to every other consideration, he's clearly the much more handsome of the two. Not that that should matter, but when a candidate is more intelligent and has something different to offer from the party in power, has the stronger personality, and is better looking--what's stopping people from voting for him?

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I was undecided right after Hill lost. I was waiting to see who Obama was going to choose as a VP. Then I had to make sure I liked the VP, which I still don't. However, I'm not undecided anymore.

I have a rather interesting story, speaking about punching people in their faces and all. I had a conversation with a girl at work (she's about 22 or 23, just out of college). We were talking about the potential presidential nominees. This was when Hillary and Barack were going neck to neck. She said to me she didn't think a woman should be president because she thought a woman in office would be "emotional". I said that's absurd and I was shocked. Then on another occasion she said that many Christian people think Obama is the Anti-Chirst. I burst out laughing thinking for sure she was kidding. She wasn't. I said that was so stupid! By the look on her face I'm thinking she was one of those Christians that thought that.

So here is the kicker to all this obvious ignorantness. She has asked for a 2 month leave to go work on the McCain/Palin Campaign. She is working for a party that has a woman on the ticket who if they won would probably be running the country. She was given the 2 month leave btw. Feel free to come punch HER in the face.

Yikes, that's really scary. Like all this Obama/Osama nonsense people spout every now and again.

I'm very afraid of what will happen if McCain gets elected, and even more afraid of what would happen if he got elected and then died--which is likely, he's old and sick.

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah my restraint was pretty amazing. In my college days I'd have banished her to my racist shit list and never have said another civil word to her. Now I only look upon her with pity and much fear (fear of what would be if the old guy and the crazy chick get elected).
