wednes | Watchmen, Caspian, and my serial killer

I'm going to start reading Watchmen tomorrow. Any background info I'll need before I get started?

I wanted to see Prince Caspian at the dollar show with H, but I'm just too poor. We can't just spend a dollar at the dollar show, we have to take cabs to get to and fro, which adds up. Plus, I like to get a bottle of water.

Work is pretty boring again. We are still damn slow, which sucks, because I'm pretty sure I'd be first on the chopping block should they decide to lay anyone off. I just hope they let me get to 18 months so's I can get some unemployment or something. I really need to find a new gig.

I submitted a few chaps of my serial killer to my publisher so he would be sure to save me a spot for 2010. I'm just waiting to hear back. I'm also waiting for my early august sales numbers. My last royalty check was way small, but I am getting paid to write, so that's super cool.

Tomorrow is my brothers birthday. I can actually call him this year and wish him a happy one. I'm pretty stoked.

No need for any background for Watchmen. It's totally self contained. It begins with heroes never used in the DCU, and gives all of their backgrounds in the book. You will love it.

Watchmen is an excellent read. No background necessary other than knowing that the Vietnam War existed and there was this guy named Nixon, but these are really footnotes. Oh, and Mars is a nearby planet.

I feel the same way about TV shows. Watching Sopranos or LOST with hugs gaps in between eps and seasons is very different than just renting a season or two and watching then right in a row.

I imagine it will take me some time to get thru the whole book, and I'll be posting my thoughts as I go.
