That's right kids, I have the Whole Day Off today. Woot woot and yay!

I got my haircut, which looks sweet. As soon as I can find what H did with the camera, I'll post a piccie because I'm sure you're all dying to see what I look like with crazy short hair. It's rounded in the front and goes just past the chin. In the back it's shorter and fluffy due to my hair's natural waviness. Nice, no? My stylist is a genius, and it only cost me $20.


Since finding my cousins on Facebook, I have been put back in contact with my Aunt Barb, who is my mother's sister. I should think if anyone knows how batshit crazy my mother is, it's her. We've been furiously Emailing each other so I can get caught up with family news and catch them up with what I've been doing. I have to be honest, I was not expecting such a warm welcome from my extended family, but I'm damn glad of it. We're going to figure out a time to get together, the family and I and H. And my Aunt is going to try to put me in touch with my brother Mark. As most of you know, I have been terribly sad at not talking to my brother for so many years...I think seven, or eight. It's been a long ass time.
Happily, my Aunt isn't pushing me into a reunion with my mom, nor has she defended mom's actions in any way. I can't tell you how much that means to me. She's staying out of it, though she's said she wishes my clan would put aside it's differences and get together. I don't think my brothers talk to each other as well as not talking to me. Mom always did try to drive us apart, I wonder if she realizes how well she succeeded.

So that is all just huge...

I actually found one my dad's sisters on Facebook just from Googling her name and thought about getting a facebook thingie to see if she would add me and talk to me. I always liked her but haven't talked to her for a couple of years, and not all that much before that either (of course, I haven't talked to my dad for over a year, and also my liking of him wavers a great deal).

I'm so glad to hear that at least some of your extended family is loving and accepting!

I didn't take Facebook very seriously at first. I started an account at an old friend's request and figured it would be like my Myspace for me, an account I could use to occasionally read others' pages but nothing special. However, as has been the case for you, it has connected me with some long lost friends and acquaintances, and I suspect I'll find a lot more.

Yeah, my extended family has always been pretty cool. I had some wonderful grandparents who are no longer alive, and plenty of aunts and uncles and cousins. I just lost track of everyone when I moved away. It's really cool to be back in touch.

Yeah, Facebook is pretty amazing. Everybody is on that thing.
