My turn to talk about Batman
Everyone is going out of town this weekend, so I will be home writing. Since that doesn't cost anything, I took my weekend play monies and took H and I to see The Dark Knight. Unlike the rest of the world, I was most excited to see Anthony Michael Hall as Mike Engel, the newscaster.
You see, I already knew Chris Nolan was a gifted director. I own several of his films. Christian Bale is a no brainer as well, he's gonna be brilliant (although the growly bat-voice gets a bit tiresome after a time). Since no one could shut up about how great the late Heath Ledger was, that was also no surprise. And Mags Gyllenhal is always a delight. Aaron Eckhart was swell, although I wish IMDB didn't tell me in advance that he was going to turn into two-face in this movie.
Anywhoo, Anthony Michael Hall. I watched all the On Demand stuff he did, interviewing various characters. I honestly thought he didn't have the diction of a newscaster. Of course, rather than a nightly news guy, AMH played more of a controversial news/talk show guy. So he could be a bit more laid back. None of that mattered in the film though, because he wasn't in it much. A few snippets here and there, although he did get to wear some low-level joker makeup. He was great as the guy in the TV, giving Gotham its news. There's also a running around frantically scene, and he was awesome in that, getting people to safety and such. Honestly though, I was just glad to see AMH in a huge movie like this. It's been a while.
As for the trailers, there was no Harry Potter trailer. So that was a drag. Watchmen looks like a glorified Fantastic Four. Not knowing anything whatever about the comic, it looks lame.
As for me, I'm off to work. I've been working short shifts of only 5-6 hours. It's pretty nice.
I really need a haircut. My old stylist works at the mall now, instead of cutting my hair on the side for a mere $20. Now if I want to see her I have to find a ride to the mall, and then pay $35 plus tip. Needless to say, I spend any possible haircut monies on Batman. I might just end up blunt cutting it myself.
Oh yeah,
gifgal, you totally need to join
stoner_girls. The girls are roughly 20 years younger than me, but they are a lot of fun.
And finally, if you haven't yet, please add me on Facebook.

I imagine I will skip it, unless H is totally stoked, which he does not seem to be.
