Interview at Jazma online

Jazma is a site mainly for writers and comic book guys to commiserate and talk about stuff.
Happily they interviewed ME about my new novel, coming out in one month. So have a read if you're interested in that sort of thing. That sort of thing being me and my work.

Speaking of work, I'm taking a few more days off my day job so I can stop feeling so crappy. I hope this is better by the time I have to double the dose, because I'm going to be feeling horrible if it doesn't.

After the candy, my favorite part about Easter has always been watching The Ten Commandments on TV. It's one of my favorite movies, and the first epic movie I saw all the way through. Charleton Heston is amazing, and backed up by a huge cast of stars, awesome costumes and cool sets. Vincent Price is a very bad man in it, as is Edward G Robinson. Even Cedric Hardewick is kind of a jerk. Sadly though, nobody showed the movie in TV this year. Not even that terrible remake version with Dougray Scott. So sad. I guess I'll have to pull out my reliable old two VHS tape set of the movie. I never got around to buying the DVD.

Speaking of DVD's, I'm way behind on my buying. I still need LOST season 3, and Sweeney Todd and The Mist both come out tomorrow. And both are damn excellent films.

We saw I am Legend at the dollar movie. While Wil Smith's performance was excellent, the movie itself was kind of blah. The theme never really developed and the ending was WAY too happy. Too bad really.

The 2-disc set as an alternate, "controversial" ending, which is probably more in keeping with the book.

Really? I'll have to rent it.

The Ten Commandments played on a bunch of Canadian stations up here. I didn't watch it, though :)

I'm jealous, it didn't play on any channel here--and I've got over 100 channels.

I Am Legend has a happy ending now?! How does that even happen?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not "happy" happy. But it's certainly more optimistic than any other movie version of the story.

Neat interview!

They played 10 Commandments in our area. I know, 'cause I walked into the kitchen and my dad was watching it! (Unless he had it on VHS tape, but I don't think so.) It ain't right not to play that every year - it's traditional.

Thanks! They did make me sound pretty clever.

Yeah, I dunno what's up with them not showing it. I'll feel off balance for the rest of the year! ;-]

congrats on all the success with the book (i've been peeking around) :)

i just rented i am legend. i thought it was slow moving at first - then much too predictable at the end. but the cgi was good. and the overall plot was OK.

and hi.

Nice to see you back around. I hope you're doing okay...under the circumstances.

There were definitley some things to like about I am Legend, but ultimately I think it just falls flat.
