Juliet: homewrecking cheater pants

LOST totally changed it up by giving us...get this...flashBACKS this week. Not sure why it'll turn out to be important than Ben loves Juliet or wants to "Collect" her (as in the famous novel). I certainly do believe that Ben would kill everyone on the island if it suited his purpose. This week was truly one of Ben's creepier weeks, and it's getting more and more difficult to see him, or any of the Others as good guys.
Does anyone have any insights on the book being read this week? Something by Philip K Dick I think. Anyway, I want flash forwards next week, Dammit. And could they make it any more obvious that Michael is Ben's man on the boat? They've dropped so many hints that now it'll be a surprise if it's NOT Michael. And can I just say, I love the Sawyer/Hurley friendship.

Went to work on my day off yesterday for a meeting. Turns out, I won $10 to go out to lunch with in a "Who had the best recorded call" contest. They always record our calls, mostly, but in this case they record them and play them for our workmates to hear. It's usually fairly painful, but I did okay this round and won some cash. Whoo Hoo.

Politics-wise, I'm pulling for Obama. Truth be told though, I think I could live with McCain. And I may have to, because I honestly don't believe our country at large is ready for a minority president. Living in Ann Arbor, I can forget that much of the country still thinks homosexuality is wrong and that white people need to reproduce faster so we don't get "outnumbered" by minorities. My point is that the US is still filled with stupidity and prejudice and NIMBY's* people who just don't pay attention to what's really going on. Obama would make our country a better place, I think. But then I also thought that about Bill Clinton.

Pre-Orders for my book are moving along at a nice clip. My press release looks pretty good, I think. I just need to figure out what else needs to go in my press packet, and how I'm going to get pdf's to reviewers. I'd like midwest book review to review me.

McCain?

Not me. I know WAY too much about him.
And of course he's not legally ALLOWED to be president (not born in America).

Serial crook, flip-flopped on TORTURE after being tortured!?!
Pandering, intemperate, serial philanderer (not that I care, unless the adulterer in question is a total hypocrite). Latest wife stealing drugs was married to fund his campaign.

Lied to the FCC about financing, broke law with HIS name on it. Wants a lot more war. Called Asians Gooks.

Charming.
Like W without the vapidity.

Obabma, yes.

Where was he born?
I had no idea.

I figured he was kind of a creep, most republicans are. But he has no ties to the KKK and is not an outspoken mysogynist, so I'm not sure we can do any better as far as republicans go.

Of course I'd prefer Obama, I just don't see it happening.

Let's see it happen!

McCain was born in the panama canal zone, but then again W and Cheney shared a sate of origin...
IOKIYAR.

I fuckin' hate these criminals.

I don't want to get overly confident. I had assumed the '04 election was in the bag for the Dems due to what seemed to be overpowering contempt for Bush, and this turned out to be a dangerous assumption. Still, I think Obama has a pretty good shot. Anti-Bush sentiment is even greater now, and Obama is pulling a lot of people who otherwise never bothered to vote out to the polls. I don't think Clinton will be able to beat McCain, because there is so much dislike for her on both the Right and the Left. However, I am bothered by the fact that there are both Obama and Clinton supporters who will refuse to vote for the other if their candidate doesn't receive the nomination. That just seems like a petulant, ego trip thing to do.

It's very strange to me that we're in an age when a pretty solidly conservative guy like McCain is thought of as a moderate. On the other hand, I'm not convinced the country as a whole is too conservative to vote for a person of color. I think it will just require more than like 52% voting participation or whatever figure is most recent.

Well, I sure hope you're right. I'd love to see Obama elected, but I think it's optimistic to the point of foolishness. And I'd love to be proven wrong!

At this point, I'd be amazed if Mrs Clinton got the nomination, which is just as well. I agree that she could never beat McCain. I'm not saying I like McCain, but I hate him less than most other republicans.

You're probably right, though I'm willing to hold out for foolish optimism.

I more or less agree about McCain. I'd be mortified about a Huckabee or Romney nomination. I'd be bummed about McCain, but I think it would still be an improvement over the last 7-8 years!
