Resume's Ahoy!

I guess what they do at work when they want to get rid of you is they give you a totally unreasonable and unattainable sales goal, then bitch you out if you don't meet it. I made less than 60% of my sales goal this month, after being the second highest seller last month.

Needless to say, I'm sending out resumes now.

Fie!

In better news, H is making me a letterhead for my noveling stuff, press releases and soforth. It's pretty cool, it has knives in it. I'll show you's when it's ready.

And in even better news, LOST is back tonight!!!
Wheeee!

This is why I hated sales. Its like every day is another episode of Glenngary Glenn Ross only without the sexyness of Kevin Spacey.
I remember when I worked at Computer Medic I sat right next to my boss and he would print out this spreadsheet that showed how much money you were making for him (It was basically your salary vs. HOw much money you made on repairs that month). It constantly stressed my shit right out. It was part of what prompted me to move into the corporate do nothing world that lets me sit here at type this message from my desk when I should be working.

LOL

AFter talking to some co workers, I learned that almost no one made their sales goal this month. Far from it. They can't fire ALL of us...

...or can they?

They cannot fire all of you for then the managers would have to work! :-)

Ha!

Too true. My boss surely would not want to be doing my job all day.

Ugh, that sucks. Here's hoping for your books selling well, so you don't have to put up with shit like this anymore. Jobs just stink.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
They can, certainly.

Being able to write full time would be quite a joy!

Wouldn't it, though? But I'm glad to see from your other comments that your co-workers are in the same boat. Hang in there. : )

Oh I will. I tend to fret needlessly about shit, and then it all works out in the end.

it's not to get rid of you it's to get you to sell things. You have gotten good reviews every time, however to keep a job in sales you have to sell. It's not the end of the world, nor does it mean that they are trying to get rid of you. It's an outdated motivation technique, but it is still practiced. Keep up the good work and all will be well.

Let's hope so.

I guess almost no one made their sales goal this month. So it's not as bad as I thought originally. Then again, almost nothing is. ;-]
