Real Life Version of Cap'n Lance Murdock dies

Evel Kenevel, who when I was a kid was a big, freakin' deal, died today.
He was *snerk* 69.
Here's the news thingy.

I'm not a big fan of the whole daredevil thing, but when I was a wee Wednes, he was the coolest guy around. He wore red, white and blue back when America's colors weren't just for rednecks and Bush supporters. It was a different time, when nobody cared about TV violence and Happy Days had not yet (literally) jumped the shark. And especially because Robbie Keneval is a pale, silly approximation of his father, Evel Keneval will be missed.

I totally watched that FOX special with Robbie Keneval a few years ago. It was supposed to be a live jump, but it wasn't. Because after he made the jump, he said a swear and it was edited out. Stupid cheater FOX and Robbie Keneval.

Anyway, in honor of Evel, I think we should all jump over something dangerous today. Maybe I'll light my wedding broom on fire and jump that...

I wonder how many buses his casket will clear when it leaves the cannon -- do you think he'll make it to the other side of the Grand Canyon, or will the ring of pirhanas after the ring of fire after the ring of pistachio Jell-O do him in (again?)

I guess there's just no tellin'.

"Live" shows are always tape-delayed some number of seconds (seven?) these days, for bleeping purposes, so as to avoid another Nipplegate.

They've not used tape delay for about 20 years. It's an electronic delay that when activated slowly buids up to the length of delay you want...often 7 to 10 seconds. If you need to dump, it goes to zero, and slowly builds up again. We have one at the radio station I work at, but I wish I had one at the cable place I help out at. Live Public Access can be scary.

Yeah it can.

Why one time I saw this Santa Claus show...

...nevermind.

I'm pretty sure this was before that whole thing.

I think it was tape delayed in case he died, which would have been a total cheat...seeing as how most people are watching for the impending death.

RIP Evil K one.

My brother used to have an Evel Kenevel lunch box. He also had a red, white, and blue wearing, motorcycle riding action figure where you wound it up on its base some how, and then let it rip and you could make it jump things (although if I remember correctly it wasn't so great at the landings). I'm not sure if it was an official Evel Kenevel doll, but it was sure based on him (I had a girl version that was all dressed in pink).

That's awesome.

Evel did say that jumping is the easy part, it's landing that takes skill.
